A couple of hours later, there was a knock on my door. Looking up, I saw Belle standing there. That reminded me that I had completely forgotten to reach out to Beau about their plans for tonight.

“Hey, you busy?”

“Not for you. How was your day?”

“It was good. Quiet, Savannah wasn’t in today, so I didn’t have to tread on eggshells knowing we were all going out tonight.”

“It wasn’t like they weren’t invited. Cash just needs to pull his head out of his ass first.”

“See now I didn’t want to be the one to tell her that!” She laughed. “Let’s not talk about them though. Beau and the boys are going to the bar from work tonight. I was wondering if I could get a ride with you?”

“Yeah, that’s fine. I am going to pick up Ally from work and then we will head over so if you want to run home and drop your car off, I can come pick you up.”

“Perfect! I just locked up so I will head home now. I want to take a quick shower anyway.”

“Okay, I will be at yours in an hour.”

“You’re the best!” She grinned and ran out. Reaching my arms above my head, I stretched and felt my back click into place. Looking at the time, I decided to lock up and head over to Ally before we had to go get Belle.

Ally

I didn’t getthe best night’s sleep so when Austin picked me up that morning, I was grateful for the coffee. I needed a few more to get me through the day, but I got through the afternoon rush without hitting a wall. I wasn’t sure how I was going to get through the night though. Maybe it was time to take a day off. I had been working every day since opening it so it might be time to take a self-care day. Moving to my diary, I flipped to tomorrow’s date and checked to make sure that I didn’t have any orders due. I also checked the day after to see if I would need to do some baking, but it was clear.

Looking up when I heard the front door, I smiled seeing Austin. Checking the time, I didn’t realize how late it had gotten.

“Is it that time already?”

“Nope, I am just early. Came to see how you were doing.”

“Tired, but I’m good.” I took a box out from under the counter and started putting Dallas’s and Tye’s favorites into it.

“We won’t have a late one tonight, so you can go home and get some sleep. You look exhausted.”

“It’s okay, I am closing the shop tomorrow. I haven’t had a real break since I opened and have a quiet day, so I’m gonna be lazy. Might even go see Mom and Dad.”

“Sounds like a good plan.”

“Do you have a big day tomorrow?”

“I have one client. Let’s just hope that he turns up, unlike my one today.”

“What happened?”

“He just didn’t show. No call, nothing. I confirmed his appointment yesterday and had everything ready but just didn’t come in. I tried to get in touch with him and no answer.”

“Oh damn, I’m sorry. I know how much time you put into your work.”

“It is what it is unfortunately. Shit happens, stuff comes up. I will just be hesitant to work with him again.” I nodded.

“Understandable.”

“Something positive did happen today.”

“Oh, what’s that?”

“I had someone come in today looking for work. She is an artist and a piercer.”
