“I’m guessing Grady still isn’t talking about it either?”
“I haven’t spoken to him since the night at the bar, and if Beau knew anything, he would have called me and spoke to me about it.”
“There is one person that you haven’t tried…”
“Yeah, I thought about him, but I really don’t want to pry into her business. If she wanted me to know, I would.”
“Is she going to do the tattoo after all?”
“Yeah, but I am just worried about it.”
“I think if she really couldn’t handle doing it, then she would say so, wouldn’t she?”
“I told her to take a few days and if she still couldn’t bring herself to do it then I would reschedule his appointment until I could do it instead.”
“You don’t think she will?”
“No, I think she will do it and push her feelings aside.”
“Can you talk to Grady?”
“I could. He was surprised that she agreed to do it. Maybe if I tell him that I hadn’t told her the design, he might hold off on getting it done.”
“See how she feels tomorrow, then go from there. If she is still trying to put on a brave face despite feeling uncomfortable about it, then go talk to Grady.” The timer on the oven sounded and I moved to turn it off. Taking the garlic bread out before the lasagna, I sat them on the bench. “Where are we eating?”
“Couch, we can watch something while we eat.”
“Want to go pick something while I serve this up?” He nodded and took our drinks into the other room. Cutting an Austin-sized piece, I put it on his plate before doing mine. I got cutlery and napkins out of the drawer and took everything to the living room. I passed him his before sitting down on the floor in front of the table.
“If you wanted to sit at the table, we could have.”
“No, out here is good. I just don’t want to spill.”
“It’s fine if you do.”
“I’m good, really. What are we watching?”
“Next one in the Marvel timeline.” He rolled his eyes.
“The Winter Soldier.” I rubbed my hands together with a grin. “My favorite.”
“Try not to drool in your dinner, Duchess.”
“The way you did over Black Widow? I’ll try not to, Romeo.” With a snort, he pressed play and we watched in silence as we ate. He got up to get us both drink refills, and I moved to the couch beside him once I had finished eating. I knew as soon as I was curled in his side though, I was done for. Even my love for Bucky wasn’t enough to keep me from falling asleep when my head was on his chest.
I don’t know how long I had been asleep for when I felt myself being lifted from the couch. I opened my eyes and everything was black.
“No, I need to clean up and put the leftovers in the fridge.”
“It’s done, Ally, you didn’t even feel me move from beside you.”
“I wasn’t tired though.”
“Babe, it was the first day back at the shop in a week. Then you came home and cooked dinner. You were tired. I could see it when I got home but you were too focused on me to notice. So, I let you go, knowing once you were comfortable, you would crash.” I gave up arguing because it wasn’t going to change anything.
“Are you coming to bed with me?”
“Yeah, why wouldn’t I be?” I hid my face in his neck.
