“I don’t know, I am sure Vannah is probably spilling everything to her now that she can’t get hold of me.”
“All the more reason to call one of the boys. What about Cash? He would already know if Vannah knew so it really wouldn’t be a surprise.” I groaned at the thought. Of course, he would know. There is no way that Savannah would be able to keep a secret and she would have told Cash over anyone. Though Belle would have been a good second choice, because she wouldn’t know Ally. As I was contemplating all of this, my phone rang again. It was Cash. Looking up at Tye, he nodded.
“You can’t hide forever.”
“Better get me another drink then.” He chuckled and moved away from me as I picked up my phone and answered it.
“Well, it’s about time, Austin. We are all worried sick about you!”
“Why? Didn’t Savannah tell you what she’d done?” He let out a sigh.
“Yeah, she told me. I told her to fucking leave it be.”
“So, you knew too. Great. How many more people decided that it would be a good idea to keep this from me? Did you honestly think that I wouldn’t find out eventually or was that your plan? Have me find out on my own so that none of you could be held accountable? Play dumb like you didn’t know?”
“First off, don’t take that tone with me. This is exactly the reason that we didn’t tell you that she was back. You didn’t need this on top of everything else that you were dealing with!”
“That isn’t your call to make, Cash! It sure wasn’t the best plan to send me into her fucking shop with no warning either but I was. Now, I just want to have a few drinks and digest all of this. You are all blowing up my phone and not happy that I am not ready to talk to any of you about this. You can come by my place later tonight and pick up the cupcakes that Savannah wanted but I swear to God, if I see anyone else including our mother, I am leaving the cupcakes on the doorstep and locking the door.”
“Okay, as long as you see one of us, then I can agree to that. I will call the others and get them to back off.”
“Thank you.”
“I am sorry, Austin, for not telling you. I thought we were doing what was best, but it turns out that we messed that up.”
“Look, Cash, I get it, I haven’t been the best person to be around since she left. Then add the Holly drama on top of that. There is shit that you guys don’t know though, stuff that I didn’t tell you about that I need to deal with now that she is back.”
“Are you going to tell me about it now?”
“No, maybe one day but not right now.”
“Okay, I will respect that.”
“Thank you.”
“I’ll leave you to it. Just promise me that you will call if you need anything.”
“I will, I promise. I will see you later.” Ending the call, I put my phone back in my pocket. Maybe now it wouldn’t ring and I could get some peace. Tye came over and was about to say something when something over his shoulder caught my attention, causing me to groan.
“Oh no...” He put a fresh drink in front of me and moved to the other end to intercept Ally.
ChapterTwo
Ally
My phone had been goingoff in the back room since Austin had left my shop. I knew exactly who it was, but I didn’t have a chance to answer it. I had been run off my feet with customers. Finally getting a break, I took a seat on the stool in the kitchen and picked up my phone from where I had left it. Seeing all the missed calls were from Savannah, I let out an exhausted sigh and rang her back.
“Hey, Ally, sorry to blow up your phone like this but it’s important. Have you seen Austin?”
“He was in here a little while ago, but you knew that. Why? Did he not come back to the shop?”
“No and he isn’t answering any of our phone calls.”
“Did you try Hurricane’s?”
“No, I didn’t think of that. I will try there now. Thanks, Ally, again, sorry to bother you.”
“No problem.” After saying goodbye, I ended the call and slipped my phone in my pocket. I know I shouldn’t be concerned. Austin wasn’t my problem, and it was none of my business where he was. He was a big boy; he could do what he wanted, and his family needed to let him do it in peace.
