“Before Cash stole you from Beau.” That earnt Austin a punch to the arm.

“Beau never stood a chance, fool.”

“I could have if I had wanted to, I just knew my person was on her way.” He winked at Belle who rolled her eyes this time and we all laughed.

“Are you both done?”

“No! So, quit interrupting us!” Cash held up his hands in surrender, then moved one arm around my shoulders, pulling me closer to him. Resting my head on his shoulder, I relaxed.

“Vannah, just like Ma, you are always there to keep us all in line when we need it. You are the shoulder we lean on, the other calming force of this family. We know this family would be missing a big chunk if you weren’t here. You filled a space that none of us knew we were missing. Least of all the clown beside you!” Typical Austin, he had to go and say something sweet, then top it off with something to make us laugh.

“Think you have the wrong brother painted as a clown, Austin.” Austin stuck his tongue out at Belle before Beau cut them off.

“We love you both! To Cash and Vannah!” They raised their glasses, as did we all before taking a drink. I looked to the man beside me.

“I love you.”

“I love you too, Sug.” He placed his hand on my cheek and leant in, pressing his lips against mine. Kissing me with a soft passion, I melted into him a little more. This man truly was my end game. There was no doubt about that. I was blessed.

Chapter Twenty

Cash

We spent the rest of the night talking, laughing, and relaxing as much as we could. We all had Dale in the back of our minds, but we were determined not to let him ruin the night. Vannah and I did our first dance to “To the Moon and Back” by Luke Bryan, and cut our cake. When she and Belle both started yawning though, it was time to call it a night. Vannah offered to come over tomorrow and help Ma with the cleaning up but she was having none of it. She told me under no circumstance was I to let her out of the house tomorrow. Not wanting the feel the wrath of her, I agreed and got Vannah out of there before she could argue. Reversing out of the driveway, I headed for home.

“So, what did Ma want to talk to you about earlier?”

“Oh, I almost forgot about that! She ran out of time this week to make our wedding cake, which I completely understand, so she told me she went to that new bakery that opened in town. She wanted to know what she should do about the information she found out.”

“Which was?”

“Ally is back in town.”

“As in Austin’s Ally?”

“The one and only. He hasn’t said anything to you has he?” I shook my head.

“No, I don’t think he has been anywhere but the shop lately. If he knows anything, he’s kept it to himself.”

“That’s what I thought.”

“Is she going to tell him?”

“Not right now. We didn’t think he needed that on top of Holly and everything else.”

“Wow, wonder what happened there?”

“Who knows. Should one of us go and find out?”

“Nah, best to leave that to him. If she wanted us to know, she would have reached out.”

“Yeah, I guess. It was a really good cake though.”

“It was. She was always good with desserts though.”

“True.” Vannah yawned again and moved her hand to rest on her stomach.

“How are you feeling?”
