Staring at his phone I see a snap of Mia at the Café in town with Jessie. The fucker’s got his arms wrapped around her waist, and she's leaning into him. They look like they are getting real cozy with each other.
"Dawg, it's all over IG too, post after post from kids at our school and public-school kids. The four of them leaving school, heading over to the café, then leaving again together. Everyone’s tagging us in this shit or straight DM’ing me with it." Carter slams his fist into the wall of the games room at his house, a dent appears immediately in the cracked sheetrock. He needs to knock that shit off before his asshole of a dad makes an appearance. I shake my head at him in annoyance.
Mateo’s just sitting there, laid back, body completely relaxed and smirking at us. What. The. Hell?Seriously, I'm gonna put this fucker’s head through a wall tonight."What's so funny?" I quirk an eyebrow at him.
Finn and Carter approach him too. They each have a "is he for real" look on their faces. Finn shoves Mateo's knee with his foot. "What's so funny asshole?"
Mateo breaks into laughter, he’s practically braying like a damn donkey and tears look like they’ll stream down his face. "She outmaneuvered you man; chick is devious." He continues to laugh till he's so worked up looking at us he's now bent in half, clutching his side.
"Fucker, this is funny to you, the snaps, people tagging us, laughing at us about her plays?" Carter shoves him deeper into the sofa. Anger vibrates off of his whole six-foot-one frame, his face red with rage.
"Yeah man, it is. It's fucking hilarious. One little scrap of a girl, barely over five feet and maybe a buck twenty wet, has all four of us kings on a rampage, and none of us are even dicking her."
Getting up from the sofa, he stretches his arms out wide. "She outsmarted us; give the bitch credit where credit is due. You thought she was gonna lose it when she saw that shit out in the courtyard. You thought she’d come straight at us, but homegirl kept her head on straight and fought back harder than we expected."
I lean against the side of the pool table in the room, crossing my ankles and arms across my chest. "She did not outsmart us." I glare at him.
Finn releases a deep sigh, then sits opposite Mateo on the other sofa. "Man, she kind of did; I hate admitting it, but Mateo's right, she played us at our own game and was savage with it." He shakes his head, raking his hand through his short hair.
I try to get my emotions in check before I pick up this pool table and flip it the fuck over. I'm raging inside, so dangerously angry that I can't even see straight; everything right now is tinted in red rage. All I can think about is wrapping my hands tightly around her thin, swan-like neck squeezing until I snap it, and her midnight sky-looking eyes popping out of her skull. The images of her leaving with Jessie messing up my mind. His hands on her, her smiling at him, they're making me completely lose my shit.
Why does this one girl manage to make me so uncontrollably angry? I don't even know her. She's just some pussy, the most beautiful pussy I have ever seen, but just a pussy nonetheless.
I have never lost control. I pride myself on being more intelligent and cunning than everyone else, even the other kings, no offense to them. I love my brothers, but their minds don’t work like mine. I'm the leader, always playing four or five steps ahead. It's how my dad raised me—always be ahead of the game. Let nothing and no one overtake you, rule with an iron fist; you're a king, like your father and his father before you.
I move away from the pool table and over to the liquor cabinet, pouring myself a straight shot of my friend JD. Taking the shot, I immediately pour myself another and down that one too. Carter comes at me and motions for a shot, so I pour him one, and he downs it.
"Man, what is it with this girl, she's hot, but there is something else about her that I can't quite work out. I have never had to work so hard for straight-up pussy in my life only to be turned down like I'm not a mother fucking king." He motions for another shot, and I pour him one out.
"We're all feeling it, dawg, she's weaving some kind of voodoo over us four, and it ain't right; it's making us sloppy." Mateo turns to Carter and me, motioning for the bottle.
Finn drags his hands down his face. "So what do we do now? She obviously figured out what we were doing; flirting didn't work on her and ignoring her didn't either. Trying to make her angry with jealousy backfired, and right now she's alone with Jessie.” His hands clench in his lap.
"What do you think her end game is?" I ask, observing each of them.
"Apparently not riding on my dick." A deep sigh leaves Carter and he strolls over to take the bottle of JD from Mateo, raising it to his lips and taking another deep swallow.
"Not sure what her end game is, but she doesn't seem to like us very much, which fuck me, man, has never happened before in our history of this generation of kings. Girls flock to us like our dicks be made of diamonds, not be turning us down and walking off with lesser men." Finn shakes his head and then leans it back on the sofa, looking physically drained.
"This can't stand man. She can't be messing with us, making us look like pansy ass motherfuckers. We are the kings of Casbury. We rule this school and this town, like our ancestors before us." Carter takes another shot, looking like he just might down the whole bottle. If he's not careful, he's going to be loaded and on the ground with the amount of JD he's taking down.
I motion for the bottle, not because I want another shot, but because I don't feel like having to deal with a drunk off his ass Carter either, to top this miserable day off. He passes it over and then watches me put it at the top of the console table I'm leaning against. Eyebrow raised, but no comment made.
I run the tips of my fingers over my lips, going over scenarios in my head. What if we take her? Like legit, throw her in a car, take her to one of the cabins in the woods outside of Casbury, and spend a weekend alone with her… hell, she might end up messing us all up. With our luck, she would call the cops or shoot one of us. She looks like the type to know how to handle a gun.
What if I break every bone in Jessie's body so he can't touch her? Fuck, no can do; he's on the team and needed. Plus, he’s not a bad guy, I remind myself. I've seen her watching us; she's not exactly immune to us. I know she's attracted to one or all of us. This is some game she's playing with us. To what end? I haven't been able to figure it out quite yet.
"I think we need to show her a little king muscle," I state. The other three stare at me as I head toward the sofa, motioning for all of us to sit down. “Let's try to think logically and get our heads out of our asses.”
"She thinks she has the upper hand because we've been chasing her, then ignoring her." I look between them. "What if we didn't. What if we flexed a little king muscle and ensured her so far comfortable existence in Casbury wasn't so comfortable anymore?"
"Like what exactly?" Finn asks, confused.
"We're the kings of Casbury; so far, we have graciously allowed her into our kingdom unbothered and unscathed, but what if that changed? What if we made her persona non grata here? Made her life so difficult she would have to bend at our feet or leave?" I sit back, rubbing my lips.
"You want her to leave?" Mateo asks, a concerned look across his face. He wants her—under him, over him, anyway he can have her. He's in good company because Mia makes all our dicks hard.
"No, I want her to kneel at my fucking feet." I smirk at them.
