Terrance nodded his chin to where Rose’s car bounced down the lane. “Rose. Do you think that when she joins the bounty club or whatever, that she’ll be able to get me Dog’s autograph?”

“Rose isn’t a bounty hunter… Supernatural or otherwise.”

Terrance’s excited smile wilted, leaving him looking like a bundle of nerves. “Oh. Uh. I figured she told you. She didn’t tell me, but she talked to Jasper while she was grooming him earlier and I was in the next stall with Butternut and I heard… never mind.”

Rose had talked to the horse.

Rose had told the horse she was bounty hunting?

Damian clenched his jaw until it nearly cracked. “Did you overhear her tell Jasper anything else?”

“No, at least nothing I understood.” Terrance shifted awkwardly on his feet. “Maybe she’s doing it for her grandma… or her sister. They’re the big witch leaders, right?”

Something told him Rose didn’t get the idea to Hunt from Edie or her sister. If there were a devil and an angel perched on her shoulders, doling out advice, that demon devil was definitely named Julius.

“Tell Miguel I’ll owe him one for closing things tonight. I have to head out.” Damian tossed his gloves to the teenager and hightailed it into the office to grab his motorcycle keys, and then he went on a Hunt of his own.

Not for an unruly shifter, or a wayward demon, or voracious vampire.

He went on the prowl for a certain, sexy witch.

Rose hustled across the street, sidestepping a cab that tried getting a jump-start off the line before the blinking pedestrian light went solid. The driver laid on his horn, but instead of dispersing the sea of commuters, more stepped into his path and he had no choice but to wait, his hands flailing impatiently.

Rose chuckled. She loved New York. She always had, but no longer being the Prima Apparent, she spent more time livinginit instead of passing through it. There were things about the city that she’d never heard of, or visited, and it was a travesty that she was determined to correct.

The Eagles’ “Witchy Woman” blared from her bag, earning her glances from passersby.

Immediately identifying the ringtone she’d picked out for Violet, Rose answered the call. “You better not be bailing on dinner. It’s been forever since the three of us have had a chance to sit and talk, and like I texted you, I’m worried about Olly. I think we’re getting close to needing a triplet intervention.”

“Hello to you, too,” Vi greeted, her voice amused. “And no, I’m not bailing. As much as I love Lincoln and all his sexy shifter growling,I need sister time. And speaking of our youngest womb-mate, I’m swinging by Olly’s office to pick her up now.”

“At NYU? What’s she doing there on the weekend?”

“She didn’t say, but I think she’s been sleeping there to avoid her roommate.”

“I knew it was bad, but I didn’t think it wasthatbad.” Rose paused, thinking about their sister’s cramped college office. “Wait… where the hell is she sleeping? With floor-to-ceiling books, there’s barely enough room for a desk.”

“Knowing her, she made one out of the books,” Vi quipped.

Rose’s idea-maker was already hard at work, thinking up solutions. “Maybe I can convince her to move in with me…”

“In the studio? You’d literally stumble over each other anytime the other moved. I’d have better luck.”

“A newly married, newly Mated, and newly Bonded couple?” Rose snortled and hung a right, heading down another block. “We both know she’d never agree to that. She’d sooner move back in with Mom and Dad.”

Vi cackled because none of them would subject themselves tothatforwhateverreasonever. They’d fought broom and cauldron to leave the first time around.

“We have to come up with something,” Rose pointed out. “At Mom’s ‘family’ dinner, she could’ve been mistaken as aWalking Deadextra without stepping foot in the makeup trailer.”

“Strength in numbers. Smart idea. You sure you don’t want me to pick you up, too? I don’t mind.”

Rose glanced up at the nearest street sign, and grinned. “I have a quick stop to make, but I’ll meet you at the restaurant. If you’re there before me, you know what I like. Go ahead and order.”

“Anything with mushrooms, got it.”
