The contact did the trick. The sound from her throat was like that of a dying animal. TK plunked himself down on the ground and pulled her into his chest, and she shamefully clung to him.

“I’m sorry,” she managed to get out before she was once more consumed with incoherent sobs.

“Don’t be sorry. He’s the one who should be sorry. He has no idea what he’s thrown away, and if he does, then he’s an even bigger fuck nut than I pegged him for. You’re fucking awesome, Morry, and he doesn’t deserve you.”

“What am I going to do? I have Kyle to think about, and….”

“Easy, soldier, one step at a time. This is not the moment to be making big choices.” TK rubbed her back, and she didn’t want to let go but knew she had to. He was one of her best friends, but she didn’t want to burden him with this crap.

She eased herself back and wiped at her face.

“Don’t I feel like the fool?”

TK cupped her face and forced her to look at him. “This is not on you. It’s not your fault that he’s not man enough to keep it in his pants while his wife is risking her life to make sure he has a bed to sleep in. Do you understand? This is not on you.”

Not sure what came over her, she grabbed his face and slammed her lips to his, forcing him to fall back on the ground.

“Oh fuck. Morry, you don’t want to do this, not while you’re this upset,” TK said, turning his head to the side.

“Don’t I?”

“No, you don’t. You’re hurt, and you want revenge. I get it, but I don’t want that to be our first time. I like you too much for that,” TK panted out. “But fuck, you’re making this hard to turn down.”

Pushing herself up, she stared down into his eyes. “You like me?”

“At least I’ve managed to hide it from you,” he said and ran his thumb across her swollen bottom lip. “Yeah, I’ve wanted you since I first saw you, but you were married. I would never purposely try to ruin shit, and I valued our friendship too much to fuck it up.”

“You really like me?” His hands were on her waist, and she suddenly wanted to know how they would feel against her naked skin.

“Um, woman…No offense, but you are blind. Like, most of the single guys on base want you, even some of the ones who are taken. You’re fierce and beautiful, and damn, there are not enough words. Trust me when I tell you Andrew is a fucking i-d-i-o-t.”

She bit her lip, trying to think if there was any time she could place TK flirting with her, and she couldn’t. He had hidden it well, or she was bad at seeing the signs.

“We better get up. I’m the nice guy, but I’m starting to think fuck it, just go for it, and that’s dangerous. You’ll regret it, and then I’ll regret it, and I don’t want to regret anything that may or may not happen between us.”

She searched his face and those light green eyes and felt like she was staring at him for the first time. How had she not known? First, about Andrew and Lindsay, and now TK? Was she really so oblivious to everything?

They pushed themselves to their feet, and she looked up at him and grabbed his arm before they made their way back to the bunks.

“Thanks, TK. You know, for being my friend, for tonight, for stopping me before I went too far.”

“Ha. Don’t thank me for that. I’m already kicking myself in the ass,” he teased, wrapping his arm around Morry’s shoulders. “Seriously, I want to get back down on the dirt again. I’ve changed my mind.”

He smiled widely, and she gave him a hard shove. “Jerk.”

Jeremy watched Morry take off in the Hummer, pissed at himself for doing this. The flash of jealousy in her eyes was what he was after and got, but now he felt like a fucking piece of shit for doing it. It was a reflex, and Jeremy hated that he felt the need to make a point. Jeremy smiled at the nurse and excused himself.

“Can I get your number?” she called after him.

“Naw, sorry. Not into dating,” Jeremy said over his shoulder and went to the bunk area.

The bikes were lined up neatly in a row, but the bikers were scattered around the sitting area with a bonfire burning even though the sun was still high in the sky. It didn’t matter where they stopped. It was always the same. The guys set up camp, the girls who traveled with the group would cook food, and the storytelling and sex would start as soon as the sun went down. Sometimes the sex started before that.

His eyes traveled around the circle, and sure enough, there was a sweetbutt on her knees, giving Hammer a blowjob.

It seemed like such a strange lifestyle when he’d first arrived, and he couldn’t get over how Morry wandered around the different groups, engaged in whatever they wanted, and never batted an eye at them. It was as if they didn’t exist. Morry ran a tight ship mind you. No one messed with her, and he understood that she had to keep it that way. Being a female and the leader, she needed to prove herself or lose their respect. It wasn’t right. She’d earned her badges ten times over, but there was always some asshole thinking they wanted to be alpha and a woman couldn’t be as tough. I wondered how tough they felt when she buried their body in the desert.

First rule of the club was you never discussed club business with anyone who was not part of the club. The second rule was you never abused or sexually assaulted a club member. If you did, you were exiled with a bullet in your head, no exceptions. The third rule was that anyone who wanted to take over had to go through Morry. Jeremy watched her throw down with the men in the group more than once. Fuck. She kicked their asses. No one ever bet against her, and for a good reason.
