“I like unicorns,” he said and she couldn’t have stopped the short laugh if she wanted to.

Dropping his lips to hers, he kissed her hard, and she could taste the salt of her tears on her tongue.

“I love you,” he said, breaking the kiss and pulling off her tank top. “And I’m not going anywhere unless you kick my ass out that door.” He kissed her again, and she groaned as he picked her up and sat her on the counter. “I want you to know that I don’t want or expect any special treatment when it comes to the club. If I need my ass kicked then kick it, that hasn’t changed.”

He kissed her again and everything became lighter. The pain in her chest seemed less, the worry in her mind a fraction better.

“I’m going to pamper the crap out of you…When we’re in private, of course.”

“Of course,” she said, smiling as he pulled off her boots.

She stood so he could get her jeans off, and as she stepped free, she placed her hands on his muscled chest, tracing the wordsLast Chancewith her fingertip.

“You’re amazing. I…” She licked her lips as she searched her heart for what she wanted to say. “You terrify me,” she finally said. “You scare the living crap out of me because you make me believe anything is possible.” She met his intense stare and pressed herself into his body, loving the feel of his warm skin against hers. “I love you, Jeremy.”

His face transformed, and he beamed at her like she told him he won the lottery. She squealed as he bent over and picked her up.

“Woman, you better be prepared to be sick of me ‘cause I’m going to steal every second I can. Starting with this bath.”

Jeremy stepped into the tub and sat down with her between his legs. She sighed and stretched out in the warm water. She couldn’t even remember the last time she’d received a massage, but her eyes closed, and she relaxed under his touch as he worked at the tight muscles in her neck and shoulders.

“I’m sorry you had to see that today. That kind of crap is not something I would wish on anyone.”

“Can I ask you something?”

“Yes, you can have the left side of the bed tonight,” she said, and he chuckled, making the warm water slosh gently.

“Good to know, but that wasn’t my question. I wondered why you sell guns when you obviously don’t like killing. I mean, it seems like a strange thing to get into.”

Reaching forward, she grabbed the soap and lathered her hands. She poked Jeremy in the knee and understanding, he lifted his leg out of the water and wrapped it around her body. Fuck, he was so unbelievably hot. Even his fucking legs were sexy. She rubbed her hands along his toned calves as he moved on to her upper back.

“When I took over the Legion, they ran drugs and women. I killed everyone loyal to the old leader by lining them up execution style. Then, one at a time, I shot them for the rest of the members to see.”

“Damn, that’s fierce,” Jeremy said, and she shrugged.

“I guess. I needed to prove I could be badass and worthy of the leadership position. Once I was done, I held up the gun and said from now on, this is what we’ll be selling. Anyone who wanted to continue to do drugs or sell drugs and women could fucking leave.” She paused as she recalled that day like it was yesterday.

“You’re fucking crazy,” Razor yelled, pointing at the five dead men on the ground. “You gonna go around and execute anyone who doesn’t agree with you?”

Morry sauntered toward the large biker, puffing out his chest as he tried to make himself seem larger like a bear would.

“Call me whatever you want. I’m not your old president, and we are doing shit my way. If you don’t like it, there is the way out.” Morry held the gun out toward the open desert. “In fact, anyone who thinks that I’m too much of a girl or still wants to deal what the old club did can leave.”

All the members stared around at one another. There were fifty or so still breathing, but she knew that before they bowed down, more would die. As she predicted, Razor and nine others broke away from the group and made their way toward their motorcycles.

“Tell me something,” she said to those standing in the half circle. “Do you think it is wise or stupid to let them live?”

The man that she knew as Butch looked her up and down. “Is this a trick question? You planning on killing me for my opinion?”

“No. I want a real answer, I want to know what you think,” Morry said.

“Well then, it’s stupid, as far as I’m concerned. Razor is not the type to take being kicked out quietly. He’ll be back and with backup.”

The rest mumbled their agreement as they nodded their heads.

“Very well.”

As the first motorcycle roared to life, she pulled out her second gun and aimed. With an accuracy that only came from too much practice, she fired at the first and last motorcycle, piercing the gas tanks. The explosions were instantaneous, and those around her ducked and covered their heads, but she didn’t flinch. Some instantly died other screamed as they ran around on fire, but it was all background noise in her mind. It was mild and child’s play in comparison to the crap she’d already lived through. She was sure some therapist would say that she wasn’t tough, that she just experienced enough trauma that her brain no longer registered what the difference was between right and wrong, and maybe they were right. But, whatever the reason, she felt nothing.
