“Your nose is not broken,” Wolf said, stepping into the bathroom.

“How would you know?” Diego snapped. He glared at Wolf through the reflection before pinching his nose bridge.

“It looks fine.”

Diego rolled his eyes and pulled away from the marble benchtop. It was past midnight, and he was still on enemy territory. He had to get out of there before Wolf did anything else to him, but Wolf was blocking the door. It was a surprise that Wolf had let Diego use the bathroom when he asked for one. Wolf had asked Diego if he would run, but there was no way Diego would be able to. He still felt dazed enough not to be able to think properly. And his lower body hurt from getting hit by the belt. Even if Diego did try to escape, it would be a futile attempt. The guards had rushed him into the mansion, so Diego hadn’t had enough time to look around and find the exit routes.

“Take your clothes off,” Wolf said.

“Go to hell.”

“If you’re going to be my guest, then I want you to be clean.”

“I don’t want to be your fucking guest,Wolf.”

Wolf was quiet for a moment. “Then you will be my prisoner. Take your clothes off and get in the tub. Don’t make me repeat myself.”

Diego scoffed. “No, I’m not going to. Get out of my way.”

“Do you want another round with my belt?” Wolf was calm, his arms folded over his chest, his legs spaced apart. “I will make you bend over that counter, and I will spank you until you do as you’re told.”

Diego clenched his fists as he stared at Wolf. Sore and tired, Diego knew that Wolf had the upper hand. By Wolf’s stance, Diego could tell that Wolf wouldn’t hesitate to lay hands on him. If Diego fought back, he’d have to go through the pain all over again, and his ass was still burning.

“Fine,” Diego sneered. He turned the taps on and stripped, avoiding Wolf’s gaze. He sat awkwardly in the porcelain. At least the cold water soothed his sore flesh.

Wolf leaned against the counter, watching him. Diego washed his face, the water turning pink from his blood. He needed to call Ander, but Wolf had taken everything off him, including his phone.

“I will kill you. Wait until I get out of here,” Diego said.

“You don’t need to get out of here to kill me. If you’re going to threaten me, at least follow through with it. And telling me you’re going to kill me doesn’t cut it. The best way to kill someone is to take them by surprise. Unless, of course, you can’t kill me on your own. Maybe youdoneed your gang to kill me,” Wolf said.

Every time Diego threatened him, Wolf only reinstated his power. Wolf had far more experience. He was far more dangerous. What was Diego doing, messing with someone of Wolf’s calibre? But Wolf was speaking a language that Diego understood. To kill. Death. They were both outcasts of society. Wolf hid the dark and illegal side of his business, and Diego didn’t. But they were the same inside, cut from the same cloth.

He must have stared for too long because Wolf’s smirk widened. He looked amused. Diego glared at him. “Aren’t you scared my men will find me?”

“No one will find you here,” Wolf said.

Diego believed him because not even he knew exactly where he was. On the way to the mansion, Wolf’s men had put a black bag over Diego’s head, so he couldn’t see the location of Wolf’s home. They had only removed it when Diego stepped out of the car. Wolf was careful and strategic in how he carried out illegal operations. The only option Diego had in that moment was to persuade Wolf to free him. “You’re wasting your time. You should let me go.”

“I’m not going to. For as long as you keep my son hostage, that’s how long you will be here.”

It wasn’t worth giving up his own freedom, but Diego wasn’t going to give in so easily either. What Wolf had done to him … it was personal now. Diego’s plans had gone to shit, and he wanted to make Wolf pay for it.

“If any harm comes to my son, then the same will happen to you,” Wolf added. “If someone in your gang kills Levi, then I will take your life.”

“And what if I end you first, Wolf?” Diego asked.

“That won’t happen.”

“How can you be sure?”

Wolf smirked. “Because you’re in my world now, and I decide what happens. Even if you think you have a leg up on me, know that it’s only because I’m allowing you to.”

Diego glared down at the soapy water. He had to get out of there fast, but he didn’t know how he was going to do that when Wolf was watching him so carefully. Even if Diego did get away from Wolf, there were the guards to worry about. Sitting upright in the tub, Diego ran his fingers over his chest and abs. His rounded biceps flexed as he washed himself.

“I didn’t hurt your son. It was going to be a trade, but you ruined my plans.”

“What was this trade for?” Wolf asked.
