Great. Will they take him off it?

Pippa Deacon

If they do, they’ll only get someone hotter to take over. No, I was pissed but I could still th

Pippa Deacon

Sorry, think. It’s all fine. Jo and I worked something out together. Here goes. We said YOU focus on the events of 2003 and the baby’s perspective on them now. He’ll concentrate on their childhood and teens. All sorted.

Pippa Deacon

Did I get that right the way round? You 2003, him since.

Amanda Bailey

I thought you’d suggest he write a totally different book or at least take him away from the baby so we don’t clash.

Pippa Deacon

I know, but Jo and I had a long chat about it. Two books on the same subject is not a problem. They rekindle interest in the case. Look at it this way, they have the bigger promo budget. Our book will be alongside theirs in-store and offered as a package online. Win win. Meanwhile, you’re the bigger name, so they benefit too. You just make sure they cover different aspects of the baby’s life. Then and now. Fans of the case will buy both.

She says this Oliver talks as if he’s A. A. Gill but has only ever ghost-written for lucky lowlife. Never conducted proper research before. Reading between the lines, he’s struggling and she hopes your influence will help get him through.

Amanda Bailey

So, I have to give him the baby’s details.

Pippa Deacon

See this is another thing we discussed. It might be best if you interview the baby together, given its age. Just a thought. Also, some other key interviewees. Perhaps hold his hand? Remember their promo budget will only serve us well in the end.

What happens with the exclusive TV thing?

Pippa Deacon

All fine. I’ve squared it with the other half. They still have exclusive TV rights. Quicker all round if you and him work things out between you.

Pippa Deacon

All we’re waiting for now is the baby.

Pippa Deacon

Amanda, is that all OK?

Amanda Bailey

Has Oliver agreed?

Pippa Deacon

Don’t mention it till Jo’s had a chance to tell him. She’s lovely.

He’ll be fine.
