Dear Mr Badham,
Via the late journalist Amanda Bailey I am in receipt of a script, entitledDivine, which has been distributed and promoted as your own work. I was Ms Bailey’s assistant and am continuing her work in so far as I am tying up the ends of her active projects.
I have reason to believe Ms Rowley Wild is the true author ofDivine. I understand you acted as her tutor for the creative writing course on which she wrote the script. You subsequently submitted it to competitions and producers under your name.
The film festival that placedDivinefirst in the category of Best Unproduced Screenplay of 2005 has been informed and your name removed from their list of ‘previous winners’.
If you wish to avoid costly and embarrassing legal action, you are advised to do the following:
1. Shred or burn every physical version of the script you own.
2. Open each digital version, select all text, delete, save and close.
3. Delete each empty document from your hard drive.
I suggest you also take steps to retrieve and delete any full-length versions ofDivineyou may have sent to film production professionals. Even those extracts that feature just the first ten pages.
Please inform me when the above steps have been completed.
Your sincerely,
Ellie Cooper

Dear Ms Cooper,
I knew Amanda wasn’t a proper film producer. Rowley was just a posh girl who took a college course for the hell of it. She was never interested in getting the script made so I don’t know what the problem is, but anyway, I’ve done all you said so you can wind your neck in.
