Can I see the photo, Mand?

Amanda Bailey

You don’t want to. It’s what Gray Graham stumbled on when he was after mood shots for a fluff piece about a baby born in an old factory.

Ellie Cooper

Did he ever sell it?

Amanda Bailey

No, and it would’ve been an earner too. It was in a blank envelope, buried in a box of fetes, fairs and fun run pics he developed but discarded.

Ellie Cooper

Why not just tear it up?

Amanda Bailey

Exactly. I think he was afraid of it. Too scared even to throw it away.

Ellie Cooper

Please can I see it?

I see what you mean. Gabriel looks dead here. So who was tried for Singh’s murder? Who did Oliver visit at Tynefield prison?

Amanda Bailey

Whoever it was, they looked exactly like that dead body on the ground. Like Peter Duffy’s police mugshot It’s a mystery. Although … the pragmatist in me agrees with Farrah. Gabriel can’t have been as dead as this picture suggests.

Ellie Cooper

Jonah is clinging to the body. According to Aileen he was ‘wishing’ him back to life. But was Gabriel just playing dead? Is that possible? What if Jonah is clinging to him here, not because he was overcome with grief and emotion – but because they heard Gray Graham enter the room and wanted to ensure no one examined the ‘body’ too closely …

Amanda Bailey

You should be writing this book, Els

I had a thought and now it won’t go away. What if Gabriel WAS dead … and Jonah healed him? Brought him back to life
