“Yes, please,” she moaned. She hadn’t intended for it to come out like she was begging, but she was so needy for him and his touch right now that it didn’t seem to matter.

Kyle winked at her as he turned to reach for the bottom drawer on the top right part of the U that the bar created. It was where they kept miscellaneous odds and ends such as scissors, duct tap

e, rags, and at the very bottom of the drawer, Dalton’s not-so-secret stash of condoms. Drea wasn’t entirely sure what had prompted him to start keeping some there shortly after he started at the Indigo Royal, but she knew he did actually take advantage of the convenient hiding spot, since the box was regularly replaced.

The view of Kyle’s ass as he bent over to rummage through the drawer was fantastic. She’d always liked the view of his backside and looking at it in the buff was no different. Actually, that was a lie—seeing his bare ass was much, much better than staring at it through swim trunks. She smiled to herself, thinking about all the times she’d watched him bend over through the years and how all she had wanted to do was playfully swat his butt. If there was ever a time, now was it.

Quietly slipping off the bar, she took a step or two until she was just behind him bent over the drawer. Drawing her hand back, she let it go swiftly, her open palm meeting his bare cheek with a reasonably loud smack. He popped up, turning around and glaring at her, his eyes filled with lust rather than anger, and grabbed her by the wrists. Raising them above her head, he shook, making a tsk tsk sound with his tongue.

“Oh sweetness, you wanna play rough? We can play rough,” he growled.

“Your butt was just too cute. It was begging for a little love pat,” she giggled.

“Cute? Love pat?” He narrowed his eyes at her, stalking a few steps toward her, backing her up until she hit the bar again. “I think you’re looking for trouble.”

She shrugged, trying to play coy. The butterflies in her tummy returned as he put an arm on either side of her, pinning her in. She couldn’t believe how badly she wanted him, needed him in this moment, and the look in his eyes told her that he was feeling much the same.

“Find what you need?” she asked, quirking up a brow.

His shoulders slumped and arms relaxed, as what looked like defeat took over his body. Resting his forehead to hers, he let out a sigh. “No. The box is empty. The one I grabbed for last night was apparently it.”

“Oh.” The discovery hit her like a brick. She didn’t want to stop, she wanted to feel him inside of her, feel his hard body against hers. She’d been on the pill since she was fifteen, thanks to Simone taking over that area of teaching, but she’d never had sex without a condom before. She hadn’t wanted to rely on just the pill. Nervousness flushed through her and she thought about the possibility of it now. Kyle was her forever, she was sure of it. She had to tell him.

“Sweetness, I’m so sorry, I was a dumbass for not being better prepared. I shouldn’t have relied on that stash.”

“I’m on the pill,” she whispered.

“What?” he asked, pulling back from her quickly.

“I’m on the pill—we don’t have to stop. Make love to me, Kyle.”

Kyle’s head spun, as if his head were a tether ball and her words had been a kid at recess. He couldn’t believe what he was hearing. Was she really asking him to go bareback?

“Dre, are you sure?”

“More than I have ever been about anything,” she said softly. “I want you to make love to me until we both can’t move.”

His heart leapt from his chest as he took her in—standing there, stunning in just her birthday suit, fresh off what seemed to be an earth-shattering orgasm, offering him the ultimate connection of skin-to-skin contact. He wanted to tell her right then and there that he loved her, but knew that now wasn’t the time. He needed to tell her when it wouldn’t come across as if it was just about sex. Pulling her close again, he wrapped his arms around her waist, until their bodies were flush against each other once again, and held her tight. Forehead to forehead, nose to nose, he breathed in her scent, just wanting to be close to her. She slipped her arms around his waist and lowered her head until it was resting under his chin.

Her forehead was now resting against his breastbone, rising and falling with each breath he took. They stayed there like that for a moment, silent, just taking each other in.

“That is, unless you don’t want to,” she said, not moving a muscle, so her head was still against his chest.

“I have never wanted anything more in my entire life, sweetness.”

Bending slightly at the knees, he scooped her up in one swift motion. Her arms flew around his neck as she giggled again. Damn, he loved her giggles—loved how free and easy she was in letting them go, loved how the sound lit up places in him he didn’t realize could light up, but more than anything he loved being the reason for the noise. Stepping into the sunlight, he made his way to the front of the boat and onto the trampoline. The bouncy surface was warm to the touch on the bottoms of his feet, so he flattened the blanket that was still there with his foot before laying Drea down on it. The blanket was warm as well, but it would be better than the trampoline fibers on her back. He wanted this moment to be perfect for her.

Once she was settled on the blanket, he lay down on his left side next to her, and began stroking her again. She reached up and cupped his face with one of her hands, grazing his cheek with her thumb. The words were bubbling up again, and he pushed them down, making himself focus on something else, anything else.

“I’m clean, I promise,” he said, rushed.

“I know. I trust you,” she replied. “I’m clean too.”

“I’ve never done this,” he said.

“Me either. It’s a first for both of us,” she smiled.

A first for both of them. The thought made his heart skip a beat. He wanted to give her the world, to make sure she was happy for the rest of time. This moment seemed like the first step in that direction.
