“No, please don’t.” I smile at her. “I’m okay. I just had a weird session.”
“Weird bad or….”
The issue isn’t that Lennox makes me uncomfortable—he makes me feel good, and I don’t know how I like that. “Just weird.”
She slowly nods a few times, seeming genuinely concerned for me, and no one here besides Sadie and Julianne has ever comforted me like this. “Want me to give you a few minutes alone before I clean? The next customer isn’t for another thirty minutes.”
I stand, shaking my head. “Thank you, but I’m good. I just needed a second to compose myself before heading downstairs.”
“Okay. I’m always around if you ever need someone to talk to.”
“Thanks. I’ll keep that in mind.”
Leaving the room, I tie my robe and use the main stairs while glancing around the room. Sadie’s talking to the new girl she’s training in the VIP area, but I don’t stop there, searching through every man, perhaps hoping he’s still here, and my stomach sinks when I don’t see him.
I huff a laugh and shake my head, quickening my steps to the dressing room, straight for the shower to prepare for my next customer, needing work to distract me from whatever is happening to me.
TEN
I NEVER LOSE
I stepped out of the club when our session ended, waiting in the car for Sadie with my raging erection, trying hard not to relieve myself in the parking lot. The hours pass quickly, and my time with Evie replays on a loop during the drive home, fantasizing about her scent, how sweet she’d taste, and how loud I’d make her come by sucking her pussy alone.
Fuck…
Parking in the driveway, I close my eyes and let out a deep breath, needing to get ahold of myself. I don’t even know her last name.
“Everything okay?” Sadie asks, and I stare at the cabin. “If picking and dropping me off is too much, I can find another way to and from work.”
Glancing toward her, I shake my head. “No, it’s fine.”
“Okay. Then what’s wrong?”
I drum my thumbs on the steering wheel, staring into the distance, trying to ease Evie from my mind. “How do you know if someone’s interested in you?”
“Well, it all depends, I guess. Some people are upfront, whereas others may leave subtle hints.”
“Hints, as in?”
“Little touches here and there, glances, smiles while giving you their full attention.” I nod a few times. Evie has hinted at several of those, but what if she’s like that with all her customers? What makes me special—I glance at Sadie when she adds, “Are you hinting at me because—”
“I like your friend, but I don’t know if she does in return.”
Her shoulders dip as she sighs. “Evie’s a literal person. If she’s interested, you’d have no problem knowing.”
“So, do you think I’d have a chance if I asked her out?”
A few wrinkles appear on her nose as she scrunches it. “There’s no harm in asking, but honestly, I don’t think Evie’s looking for a man at this time of her life. She has a lot going on.”
Of course, she isn’t, and I’m the dickhead being too forward without a second thought.
Sadie takes hold of my hand and asks, “Want me to talk to her?”
“No, but thank you. You should head to bed.”
“You’re a nice guy, Lex, and Evie would be lucky to have someone like you. She needs laughter in her life.” Her genuine words ease my doubts, and I smirk, peeking at her. “Just how Kylo needs a woman like you to laugh with.”
“He doesn’t want to be with anyone either.”
