He brushes his whiskers, letting out a yawn, and Jinx prances toward us from across the room with a trill. Letting him onto the floor, he runs to his ma as she licks his body, but he’d rather eat than have a bath, going straight for his breakfast.
“Poor girl can’t catch a break with his hungry ass,” I say into Evie’s ear, and she glances back at me with a smile.
“Yeah, but she’s used to his shenanigans by now.”
I hug her closer, letting out a long breath. Happy, content. “I’m going to quit the mill,” I whisper, and she moves her fingers through mine. “I have more than enough in my savings, so I’ll put in my two weeks, tell my pops I’m not taking over, that I want to pursue something I’ve never given a chance to succeed in because I was too worried about what he’d think of me if I failed at it. I want to try at least, and if I fail, then I know it was doing something I loved, and I gave my passion my all.”
She turns to lie on her back, her head resting on my arm as she looks at me. “And you’re going to be amazing. I know it.”
“I have you to thank.”
“Me?”
“Mhm.” I run my hand up her side, across her waist, and glide the pad of my thumb under her breast. “Seeing you in the air, how you love being there, showed me how much passion is important. If you enjoy your work, you’ll strive to succeed.”
“And you will.” Evie lets out a soft moan, dragging her teeth along her bottom lip when I brush my thumb over her nipple. “Plus, you already have your first customer.”
I smirk, lifting a brow as I tease her nipple to a hardened peak. “And what does my first customer want?” Touching her finger to her bottom lip, she grins, whispering in my ear, and I hum, gliding my hand to her throat. “That can definitely be arranged.”

I ended up spending the rest of yesterday with Evie, though this morning, I woke up at 8 a.m., only getting an hour's worth of sleep as I stayed in bed, thinking of ways to tell Dad my plan without him blowing up on me. A few hours pass until I have the willpower to get up, especially with my wife sleeping naked beside me after our vigorous night. So I make her coffee, leave the mug by the bedside table, and throw on the set of work clothes I left behind, strolling up the pathway toward the cabin. It’s quarter to twelve, receiving a text from Kylo to meet him in his office before I leave, so I head inside the cabin through the back sliding door, Jinx running toward me with Jax close on her hind.
“Hey, little man.” I pick my guy up, rubbing Jinx’s head while walking toward the hallway, letting him down as I meet the office door.
Kylo’s focused on his laptop screen, his brows furrowed while reading an email, and he glances at me when I walk toward his desk.
“Hey, what's up?”
He lets out a deep breath, rubbing his forehead. “This morning after the trial, Sadie came home to a package on the steps.”
“A package…”
“I didn't tell you before because I would rather you not worry about me, but I had a package come to me a few months back.”
I furrow my brows, crossing my arms over my chest. “Kylo, don't start with that bullshit. You know you can come to me for anything.”
“Yeah, well, I was trying to comprehend what was happening myself.”
“What was in these packages?”
He stares into the distance. “Photos. A video.”
“Of?”
“Explicit photos of clients from my sessions. This morning Sadie received a video of Leanna and me during one of our sessions, and I found Sadie watching just as I was….” His jaw clenched while shaking his head. “There’s no recording allowed. You know that. Yet, I found multiple cameras around the cabin. I don’t know how, I don't know when, or why, but I know it was her.”
“Leanna? Shit. What are you going to do?”
He looks back at the computer. “Give in.”
“What?”
“I have a plan, one she can’t manipulate around this time, and hopefully, once my housekeeper comes in at 2:00, I can proceed with the plan accordingly.”
“Okay, so I’ve missed a lot. Tell me about this plan.”
Kylo reads me the email he sent, the one Leanna returned, and what he plans on doing once they meet up at Vivid. It’s a good plan, a hell of a good one. I take a seat in the chair across from him. “If you’re going, you’re not going alone. I’m coming with you.”
