His eyes gloss over as he grins, and the tears he sheds are full of joy. “I have no words to express how happy that makes me.”

“You don’t need words, Lex. I feel them in your touch, poured into every kiss, from the way you see me—no one has ever looked at me the way you do, stayed by me through everything I’ve done to push you away.” I smile but can’t hold back the sob that breaks through simultaneously. “I love being here with you, but it’s hard letting myself feel okay with being open. I hate that I still feel wary of letting you in, even knowing you’d care for me, that even when times are rough, you won’t leave.”

His hold on my cheeks strengthens. “Do you remember what I told you in Vegas?”

I quickly nod. “Yes.”

“Tell me, baby,” he breathes against my lips, and I lick the water off them.

“You’ll never be far.”

“Yes.” Lennox takes my hand and places it over his heart. “Because why?”

Staring into his eyes, I smile when he does, hearing that melody. “Because you’re home.”

The hairs on the back of my neck stand on end from déjà vu, a familiar nutty aroma permeating the air—unable to pinpoint the exact location of the scent because the sudden vibrations between my legs take over every sense in my body. I moan, opening my eyes as Lennox spreads my thighs wide, gliding a sleek vibrator along my slit until he inserts the shaft into my pussy while kissing my clit.

“Mornin’,” he mumbles, flicking his tongue, and sucking while slowly working the toy inside me. “Chocolate chip pancakes, hot and ready in the kitchen.”

I’m still tender from last night, but the ache is delicious—I’m hungry to feel more and experience every pleasurable sensation this man gives because I’ve deprived myself for too long. “Hm, keep this up, and you’ll turn me spoiled rotten,” I say, touching my breasts and bucking my hips forward when he chuckles.

“Say less.”

Removing the vibrator, he tosses the device to the side, getting down to business while wrapping my legs around his head and sucking my clit without reservation. There’s no time for breathing with a tongue like his—a thorough mouth meant for eating pussy extracts air from my lungs in seconds as an orgasm rips through me. I grip the sheets, my toes curling as I pant, my body squirming beneath his hold, and Lennox moans, lifting his head once I’ve settled.

“Fucking perfection, baby.” He kisses my inner thigh while huffing. “I’ll never tire of making you come.”

I hum, stretching my body. “Well, I thank you for your service, Mr. Hunter.” Scooting to a seated position, I grab the mug off the end table, take a sip of coffee, and use my foot to lift him onto his knees. “Now, be a good boy and fetch me my breakfast, will you,” I state, placing the lukewarm beverage down while trying to bite back my laugh.

Lennox groans, kissing the side of my foot. “I’ve created a monster.” Then he nips my ankle, making me giggle as he drags me toward the edge of the bed, dipping forward between my legs. “I love it.”

We both laugh, our lips almost touching, and I move in first to press a kiss on his. “Thank you.”

“You’re welcome, Peaches. Let’s get you fed.”

As I settle at the island minutes later, wearing my favorite black thermal, Lennox winks at me before heading outside, pulls up a chair to sit on it backward, and draws something out of his pocket. Watching him for a while through the large windows, I finish eating and stroll out into the nippy air, goosebumps rising along my skin until I press into Lennox’s warm back. He hums when I rest my chin on his shoulder, warming my fingers under his shirt as I wrap my arms around his front.

“Working on something special?” I ask, peeking down at his hands, which he’s taped a few fingers while carving into wood.

“Depends on the outcome of the finished piece. I’ve been slowly working on this one for a few days, and I’m just about finished.”

He’s holding an oval object, and I smile, shifting to lay on my cheek as the figure gradually comes to life while he carves in detail, and the finished product is a small bird.

“Wow, amazing,” I say, maneuvering to sit in the chair across from him and leaning on my knees to get a closer look.

“Could use a good sanding in some areas and polishing.”

“I think it’s beautiful the way it is.”

“Yeah?” Lennox places the bird on my palm, and I smile, smoothing my thumb over the etched wings, the rough surface along the bottom. “If you like it, then it’s yours.”

“Thank you.”

“I started carving these after reading how when birds attract a mate, they pair for life.” He goes into his pocket, pulling out another similar to mine, only smoother in texture. “So I wanted to make another. If you’d rather have a finished product, you can have this one instead.”

I smile and shake my head. “No. The imperfections make the bird all the more beautiful.”
