A nutty aroma draws me from my sleep, and I open my eyes to a clear mug with dark liquid filled to the brim. Lennox is across the dim room in black sweatpants riding low on his hips, sipping coffee, his gaze focused on the lake horizon, maybe deep in thought. With the curtains pulled back, the moon giving just enough to make out the lines of his abdomen, the way his defined chest gently rises with each subtle breath, his broad back resting against the wall.

Another sip and he looks at me, his once serious expression softening, a bright smile lighting up the room as he pushes off the wall and walks toward me. “Good morning,” he says, sitting along the edge of the mattress, brushing a strand of hair behind my ear.

“Early morning.”

“Hm. Sleep well?”

I smirk, snuggling further into his pillow and comforter. “Mhm, I don’t want to leave your bed. It’s so comfortable.”

He places his mug on the end table and climbs over me to hold me from behind, resting his nose in the crook of my neck. “Then don’t.”

Turning to face him, I lift my head to rest on his arm, wiggling closer. “Well, it’s Friday, and we both have jobs.”

“Jobs are overrated.”

Snorting a laugh, I lean in to kiss his lips. “I agree. So is money and bills.”

“I’m taking a personal day indefinitely. I’d rather stay in bed with you and continue doing that.”

“What? Kiss me?”

He does, then shakes his head. “Make you laugh. Enjoy the after-effects of your beautiful smile.”

I bite the inside of my cheek to contain my grin. “Yeah, and what’s that?”

He stays quiet, gazing at me with those soft hues before whispering, “A melody.”

My brow piques as I eye him. “A melody? Is that really coffee you were drinking?”

Lennox chuckles, smoothing his thumb across my cheek. “Yes. Good coffee.” He continues to hold the side of my face, and I nuzzle into his gentle touch, his finger trailing the corner of my mouth. “Because your smile pulls my heartstrings.”

“Lex.” I bite my lip as tears brim my eyes, trying my hardest to keep them from falling. “That’s the sweetest thing anyone has ever said to me.”

Pressing forward, I wrap my arms around his neck and breathe against his lips, Lennox returning my kiss just as eagerly, drawing the comforter back from my body to press his chest against mine as he settles between my legs. I moan from his fullness, how small I am beneath his large frame, fitting perfectly within each other, and he feels just right. His touch is gentle yet urgent as if he hates he can’t explore every inch of me at once, grunting at the swell of my breast, gliding his thumb over the peak of my hardened nipple.

Breaking our kiss, he dips to lick the hollow of my throat, and his breathing increases the more of me he tastes, traveling downward to tend to my other breast. “You’re so perfect, Peaches.” He sucks my nipple harder, swirling his tongue, and I moan, threading my fingers into his hair to get him to do that again.

“Keep going.”

A jingle sounds in the distance, tiny paws prancing toward the doorway of his room, and Jinx lays along the jamb, rolling around before rubbing her face against the wood a few times. She releases a low meow, coming forward just as Lennox dips further south—his wet kisses and hums down my stomach make goosebumps spread across my skin, my hips rocking with each eager press. Hopping onto the bed, Jinx meows again, stalking toward Lennox, and he shoos her back a few times with her persistence to gain his attention.

“No.” He finally looks up, narrowing his eyes as she raises her hind, trilling while rubbing her face into his hand.

I lift to my elbows with a huge smile watching him argue with a cat as she continues jumping onto the bed. “She’s probably hungry or horny,” I say, giggling.

“Yeah, and so am I.” He grips under my hips, nipping below my navel, and I jerk my legs close to his head, intaking a sharp breath through my teeth. “Fucking starving.”

Jinx doesn’t let up, crying louder, jumps up again, and Lennox huffs, laying his cheek on my pelvis in defeat while staring into the distance. His heavy gaze travels up my naked body as he straightens his stance, and mine trails down, taking in his apparent erection needing relief.

“Go take care of your cat daddy business.” I shift onto my side, lifting my knee to accentuate my hip. “Because you have another kitty that needs tending.”

“Shit…” He Scoops Jinx into his arms and slaps my ass. “I’ll be back.”

Grinning, I wait a minute after he leaves, then crawl out of his bed, heading straight for his closet. I brush my fingers along the clothes hanging—leather, t-shirt, thermal—his style ranging between man of the forest, and come ride on my Harley. Since the weather is still nippy this early in May, I take down a black thermal, inhaling his faint sweet woodsy scent while dragging the shirt down my body. The hem rests mid-thigh, and I ruffle the sleeves to my elbows since they’re too long.

“Mm.” My heart races as Lennox breathes into my neck, pressing a kiss while holding me from behind, whispering into my ear, “You look damn sexy wearing my shirt.” He cups my pussy, and I release a breathy moan while tilting my head back, my cheeks burning red just as my stomach growls loudly. “Hungry?” He chuckles as I turn into him and nod. “I got pancakes.”

“Chocolate chips?”
