I’ll be the judge of that.

“Do you often give unsolicited advice to your customers?”

Gin chuckles. “It’s not advice, kid, but a warning,” she says, then walks to the other end of the bar.

Evie pokes her head out of the room she entered and nods for me to follow her inside. I do as she says, catching sight of one of the security guards standing nearby, but he doesn’t pay me mind as I pass. The dressing room is nothing like the elegance of the main floor, with bare walls—not much more than lockers, stations, and outfits, as if the owner could care less what environment the girls get ready in.

I go inside unnoticed until one woman exits a shower, so I quicken my steps out the door Evie left through, which leads to a long narrow hall with an exit sign at the end by the stairs. There stands Evie, tossing my keys in the air, wearing jeans and a black coat with the zipper open.

“Where are we going?” she asks, moving her hand to her back when I go for my keys.

I glance around, no camera in sight, and tower over her petite frame. Her tongue glides over her lips as she stares into my eyes, and I inch closer, itching to touch her again. A soft, shaky breath passes through her once I take hold of her hips, and it’s taking everything in me not to draw her to my body, to finally taste her.

“On our date.”

She hums, tilting her head back against the wall. “You didn’t win that bet.”

“Maybe not, but we should give it a go anyway.”

“Yeah?”

I nod, trailing my hand up her side, her lips parting as I hold her neck, caressing her cheek with my thumb. “Yes. I apologize for yesterday. Will you forgive my unruly behavior and go on a date with me?”

She smirks and holds up the keys for me to take. “Fine. One date.”

“After you,” I say, opening the door, and my skin prickles when she glides her fingers across my abdomen.

I blow out a deep breath before following her, unlocking my Mustang, and Evie picks up her step to the passenger side, smiling as she slides her hand along the carbonized exterior.

“She’s beautiful.”

My grin matches hers as we both get inside, and I fire her up. “Ready to go?”

Evie nods, glancing at me as I back out and head for the road. We have a few hours of daylight left, so I take the hour and a half drive up 101, making small talk, giving her the scenic view of Cannon Beach as I pull over to the side and park.

I should’ve packed a picnic or some romantic shit like that.

Rolling down the window, Evie leans out, and while she takes in the beautiful sight, I do the same, only mine’s much closer, curvier, plump.

She peeks over her shoulder, catching me staring at her ass, and smirks. “Enjoying the view?”

“Very much.”

Facing forward again, she widens her stance while swaying her body. “Come watch the waves with me, Lex.”

I have a blanket from that one time I needed to stay overnight at the mill, so I pop the trunk to grab it, spreading the fuzzy red plaid fabric over the hood of my car. Strolling to her door, I open it and gesture for her to take my hand as she steps out. She kisses my cheek, and a fire ignites within me when her lips touch my skin. I swallow, assist her in climbing on top, and rest back on her elbows.

I’m next to her in seconds, and we stay silent for a moment, several cars passing behind us though the ocean waves crashing along the cliff drown out most of them.

“Thank you for taking me here. This view’s much better than being at work.”

“You’re welcome. I wish I were more prepared with snacks, but I wasn’t sure you’d say yes.”

She glances at me, then continues watching the water. “I’m glad I did. This setting is beautiful.”

“I’m happy you’re happy, Evie.”

Her smile is instant, bringing her lip between her teeth to mask it, and I wish it were mine instead.
