“You’ve never had an orgasm from sex?” He frowned. “It’s actually normal for women not to orgasm from sex itself, so I guess I shouldn’t be surprised.”
Maddie raised an eyebrow. “You’re making it all clinical.”
He shrugged. “Well, you’re telling me you never have before.”
“Well, yeah, because he didn’t know how to wield his dick very well.” She slapped a hand to her mouth and stared at him wide-eyed.
He barked out a laugh, but then sobered up quickly. “Wait a minute. Did you say he? As in, you’ve only had sex with one guy?”
Her face grew hot, but she nodded.
“Wow, I’m surprised. I figured while you were in New York, you probably had several boyfriends.”
She sighed. “I didn’t have time to date until recently. When I wasn’t in school, I was working. After I graduated, I threw myself into several jobs to stay on top of my grandmother’s medical bills and my student loans.”
He brushed the back of his fingers along her cheek. “I’m sorry you had to take on so much responsibility at such a young age.”
“She took me in when I had no one else. It was the least I could do.”
He pressed a kiss to her stomach and rested his chin on her as he stared up at her.
She ran a hand over his hair. “Have you had a lot of partners?”
With Kayla’s addiction to reading the tabloids, Maddie had seen several articles in the past about Jace being a player. She didn’t think much of it since it was always her impression that celebrities were, and since she didn’t know him, she didn’t care. But now that she had slept with him, she realized it was something they probably should have discussed.
They completely bypassed the safe sex talk.
Jace shifted and laced his fingers together under his chin, which still rested on her stomach.
“I’ve slept with several women, yes, but I’ve never done one-night stands. Until you, I had never been with a woman immediately like we had on Halloween. That was uncharacteristic of me. It’s actually been a few years since I’ve been with anyone.”
Maddie raised her eyebrows. “Really? So why did you take me to your office on Halloween?”
“Honestly? I’m not sure. You seemed different. You didn’t recognize me, which was a huge turn on.”
“You had a mask on, which made it difficult. But, to be honest, I’m not sure I would have recognized you even if you hadn’t been wearing one.”
“There was something different about you that attracted me.”
She giggled. “Maybe it was the fact that I had a belligerent dude putting his hands all over me.”
Jace’s jaw ticked. “That guy was so close to getting hit.”
“Really?”
“He was so drunk a little shove did the trick.” He laughed. “I spotted you on the dance floor before that and wanted to approach you, but had to deal with something. By the time I went back to find you, you were gone. Then I saw you at the bar with that guy, and it was the perfect opportunity for me to swoop in.”
Maddie laughed. “My hero!”
He chuckled. “It worked in my favor, to be honest.”
She only smiled at him. They laid in silence for a few minutes before he reached over to the nightstand and grabbed the clock to turn toward them. It was getting late.
“I think we need another shower,” he said. “Then I need to head into the club.”
“Working tonight?” She ran her hands through his hair as neither of them made any move to get up.
He closed his eyes to her touch. “Unfortunately. I have to cover the bar.” Then he moved so quick, she squealed when he pinned her underneath him. “But I’d much rather stay here with you.”
