Chase sat down beside her and smiled. “I ordered us a pizza already. It should be here soon.”
“Sounds great.”
They sat in silence. She looked around the room, finally noticing how bare it was. There were very few personal effects. The place was mainly made up of the essentials, with little else—much like his bedroom.
“Don’t like to decorate?”
He looked around the room and his ears tinged slightly red. “I just haven’t gotten around to buying stuff for the place. Plus, it’s not something I’m good at.”
“I can help you sometime if you want.”
“I’d like that.” He smiled at her and a knock sounded on the door shortly after, signaling the arrival of the pizza.
He laid everything out and handed her a plate, letting her take her pick first. He motioned toward the couch. “We could watch a movie if you’re interested.”
They went through his selection of DVDs and settled on a comedy.
She folded her legs beneath her on the couch and took a bite of her slice. She groaned and closed her eyes.
“That must be some amazing pizza,” Chase said, his voice strained.
Kailynn opened her eyes, looked over at him, and gave him a wink. “The best.” She took another bite and tilted her head as she thought back on her day. “You know, I don’t think I’ve eaten today.”
Chase looked relaxed against the couch with his ankle propped on his knee as he ate his food.
“Really? Engrossed in work?”
“Just trying to figure out the whole marketing situation. I think everything will be better once I get someone hired.”
“It will. Then you can focus on the things you enjoy.”
She smiled and took another bite of the pizza. “But this pizza really is amazing.”
“Well, you know. I slaved all day making this dough from scratch. And the sauce? Don’t get me started on how many farmer’s markets I had to go to just to find the ripest tomatoes.”
She laughed and coughed on a slice of pepperoni. He reached over and gave her back a few pats.
“You okay over there? My amazing pizza isn’t going to kill you, is it?”
She only laughed harder. The comments weren’t even that hysterical, but here she sat with tears streaming down her face. She reached out and pushed against his chest.
He laughed and wrapped his hand around her wrist, tugging her closer to him.
The simple movement sobered her up. His eyes darted to her lips before he licked his own. He leaned forward and captured her lips with his. He tasted of pepperoni. She leaned into him, and her body took control. Somehow, she moved both of their plates off their laps and onto the coffee table without breaking the kiss. Then she crawled onto his lap.
His powerful arms circled around her, helping to position her perfectly on his lap. He was already hard, and his erection pressed into her jeans. Suddenly, she wished she had worn a skirt.
“Let me take them off,” she breathed.
She moved to unbutton them, but his hands clasped around hers, and he shook his head.
“No.” He groaned. “I’m sorry, Kailynn. I don’t want to do this to you again, but we should stop.”
She pulled back and only gave him a brief look before sliding off his lap and standing up, horrified.
Not again.
He snagged her hand before she could walk away and pulled her back down onto his lap, but adjusted himself so she wouldn’t be planted straight on his dick.
