She threw her wrist over her eyes as her chest heaved.

“That was incredible,” she whispered.

He laughed and pulled back, dropping next to her on the bed.

“Completely.”

They laid in silence for a few minutes before he stood up. “I, uh, should take care of this.” He gestured toward the condom in his hand.

“Of course.”

He left the room, and she heard the shower turn on shortly after. He popped his head back into the room. “You coming?”

The smile on his face was contagious. She slid off the bed and followed him into the bathroom. For some reason, things felt natural with Chase. Normally she’d feel self-conscious about her body, but with him, she was completely relaxed. Drew had always viewed her with a critical eye, much like he did with her designs. Chase showed nothing but appreciation.

They stepped into the shower and stood under the stream of water. She smiled up at him as he rubbed his hands up and down her arms.

She dipped her head under the stream of water, completely soaking her hair. He grabbed his shampoo and squirt it into his hand before massaging it into her scalp. She had never had someone else wash her hair before, aside from a hairdresser, so it seemed odd at first. But she enjoyed it as his fingers worked their magic. He grabbed the soap next and ran the bar along her back, slowly massaging her as he went.

All tension and worry from the day fled from her muscles. She completely relaxed. She put a hand against the shower wall and relished the feeling of his hands on her. He was taking care of her... something she hadn’t felt like she had had in years.

Chase woke to find Kailynn curled up at his side. With his arm around her and her head resting on his chest, he smiled as he thought back to their night. They certainly didn’t waste any time before getting to this point. He frowned at himself. He never wanted Kailynn to feel like he was only after her for sex, and he wondered now if that’s how she felt.

She stirred in his arms and he swept a lock of hair off her forehead as he watched her. Her eyes fluttered open, and she looked up at him and smiled.

“Morning,” she said and pulled out of his arms to stretch.

“Morning.”

He watched as her chest slightly pulled out from under the sheets, exposing the top part of her breasts. He refrained from reaching out and touching her as he didn’t trust himself not to start something first thing in the morning. His want for her hadn’t waned. It only grew with a bigger need. He smiled and tugged her back into his arms once she finished stretching.

“Can I interest you in breakfast at the diner?” he asked.

She smiled. “Of course.”

He reluctantly let go of her as they got out of bed to get dressed. She pulled her hair up into a ponytail and slipped on the skirt and blouse from the day before. And then she looked down at herself.

“Um, do you mind if I run to my place to change first?”

“Not at all.”

She walked up to him quickly and pressed a kiss to his lips before taking his hand and leading him over to her apartment next door.

He followed her over to her place and stepped inside.

“I’ll be right back,” she said, before disappearing down the hall.

Abi appeared a minute later. “Oh, hey Chase.”

“Hey Abi. How are you?”

“I’m doing well.” She gave him a small smile as she poured herself a mug of coffee. “Would you like one?”

“Oh, no. Kailynn and I are about to grab breakfast. You’re welcome to join us if you’d like.”

“Thanks for the offer, but I think I’ll let you two—” she raised her eyebrows twice, suggestively, “—mingle.”
