Chase laughed. It made sense. If the party were tomorrow, the chance of it getting back to his parents was highly likely, considering the town was small. They would have to stay out of sight of the locals, which meant they would need to be confined to Derek’s ranch the entire time. There were worse places to be confined, but it made more sense to have the party sooner.

Chase looked back at Kailynn, who smiled back. The nervousness was clear on her face, but it would be better for them to get it out of the way sooner rather than her stewing on it for another twenty-four hours.

“That’ll be nice to see them tonight. So what time is the party?”

“We have three hours. As soon as we get back, you two can go get ready and relax. I have a few last-minute things to set up. I just want to make sure you’re hidden when guests begin to arrive. We can’t spoil this epic surprise.”

“Epic,” Chase said, shoving Derek’s arm. Derek’s constant use the of the word was something he had always picked on him over, and Derek had already used it twice in the short time they had been in the car.

“It will be epic!”

It took them over an hour to get to Derek’s ranch in Big Sandy. When they finally arrived, it left them only a few hours before the party was set to start. Derek brought them into his house. Chase had been there multiple times before as he helped Derek out when he first got going. When Chase’s marriage fell through, he moved into Derek’s place to help him on the ranch until he decided where he was going to go.

Derek brought them to a spare room in the back where Chase used to stay. “Here’s where you crazy kids will be staying. Bathroom is down the hall,” he said to Kailynn. “Now, I’m going to go set up a few last-minute things before people arrive.”

“Do you need some help?” Chase asked. He had wanted to help put on his mom’s party, but since it was being thrown sooner than expected, he realized he missed out on most of it. Derek had enough on his plate running the ranch, and Chase didn’t want Derek to be stuck doing all the work.

“I wouldn’t mind some help getting the tents set up. It might rain tonight, so having a few spots for people to get out of the rain would be good. My barn is full of horses, so I don’t want people mingling in there.”

Chase nodded at him. “Give me a few.”

Derek left Chase and Kailynn alone. Chase turned toward her and smiled.

“Would you be okay with me helping? I don’t want you to feel like I’m ditching you in an unfamiliar place.”

Kailynn grabbed his shirt and tugged him closer to her before standing on her tiptoes and kissing him. When they pulled apart, she spoke.

“You aren’t ditching me at all. Would it be okay if I took a shower? I just want to feel less disgusting before everyone comes.”

“Of course. Take a shower and get ready. I’ll be back soon.”

He watched as she stepped away and opened her suitcase, rummaging around for the items she wanted. He smiled as he watched her.

“Thank you for coming. It really means a lot to me.”

She looked back at him and stood up. He pulled her into his chest and hugged her to him. Everything felt different with her. Everything felt right. He hadn’t felt like anyone fit so perfectly with him before.

“Thank you for inviting me.”

He knew he could stay with her in this embrace all day, but there was work to do.

“I better get going before I ravage you,” he whispered into her hair.

Her lip turned up in the corner and she ran her hand down his chest and just inside the waistband of his pants before stopping. Her thumb stroked the skin beneath his boxer briefs—far enough from his manhood, but close enough to drive him wild.

“You better get going beforeIravageyou,” she whispered back in a low, sultry voice.

He groaned, his blood immediately draining down to his cock where it now stood at attention.

“Fuck, baby.”

Her finger trailed the hard outline of his dick and he clenched his fists to avoid stripping her naked right there.

“You’re going to make it impossible for me to step out of this room for at least twenty minutes.”

“Let me help with that,” she whispered into his ear as her fingers worked at the fly of his pants.

She stared into his eyes as she tugged his pants off his hips. He knew he should go out to help his brother, but Derek would kick him if he knew he gave this up to erect some tents.
