Whether or not she actually would, she didn’t know. The attraction was too real for her to stop it easily. She knew that much. Chase had been the only one to stop them and it was only because he was afraid of being disbarred. But it wasn’t lost on her that it was unlikely anyone would even find out about them.
His lips met hers, but instead of them getting lost in the lust, it was gentle. He brushed her hair behind her ear as his lips moved with hers, and then he pulled back.
“Come here,” he said. He tugged her to lie down on the couch with him and pulled her securely up to his chest, pressing a kiss to her forehead.
Her legs intertwined with his, and a bulge pressed against her leg. She looked up at him.
“Little Chase wants to play,” she whispered.
He laughed, and she laughed along with him. He reached down and adjusted himself so she was no longer feeling him, and then he relaxed back into the couch.
“Sorry. We’re both a bit eager for tomorrow to be over.”
“What if it doesn’t end tomorrow?”
A grumble sounded in his throat. “It better.”
“And if it doesn’t?”
“Let’s not worry about that tonight.”
His hand soothingly ran through her hair, and she tried her hardest to stop worrying about what could happen. It would not help anything. But with his arms around her, her body relaxed. And before she knew it, she was asleep.

Kailynn wokeup wrapped in Chase’s arms on his living room couch. He still slept. His face was relaxed and his breathing even. She smiled up at him. Despite going to sleep in the middle of the night, that was the best night’s rest she had had since her split with Drew. The stress of the business made it hard for her to relax long enough to sleep in any long stretches, but in Chase’s arms, she had slept solidly.
She snuggled back into his chest and inhaled. He smelled of the forest, of pine and earth, his cologne lingering on him from the day before.
“Do I smell bad?” his raspy voice asked.
Her eyes shot up to his, where he watched her.
“Not at all.”
He smiled down at her and tugged her closer to him, their legs still intertwined from the night before. A want pooled in her belly, but she knew nothing could come of it. It didn’t change the fact that she wanted to see if he felt the same way.
She adjusted her legs to see if she’d feel that same bulge in his pants from the night before. He inhaled sharply and gripped her hip.
“Little Chase wants to come out and play, and I’m scared I won’t be able to stop him this time.”
“I’m okay with that,” she said, softly. She would go straight to hell for this.
He laughed and rolled them so she was lying on the couch with him braced above her.
“We just need to get through today.”
Her hand made a trail up his chest. It was rare when a guy turned her down. She was used to having them fall at her feet, but Chase wasn't an easy one to crack. Granted, she knew it wasn’t because he didn’twantto.
“How about we just get through the mediation?” She lifted an eyebrow.
He groaned. “That’s good enough for me.”
She lifted her head and captured his lips with hers. His hand rested on her side, just below her breast, and the want in her doubled. With just a little movement, he’d be rubbing her sensitive peaks, which pebbled at his touch.
She moaned against his mouth at the thought, and he pulled back suddenly.
“Let’s wait until this afternoon.”
