“Anything for you, Madam Trinity,” he said with a wiggle of his eyebrows.

I reached for the coffee and took a sip, realizing this was a now or never situation. This afternoon when we were done at his family’s house, we had nothing else forcing us to stay together, yet I still wasn’t ready for it all to end.

“What would happen if we tried to make this work?”

He froze and then looked up at me. “Well, it would be more laughter and orgasms, I’m sure.”

“But what about everything else? Where would we live? Would you want to live together? What about our kinks? I’m still a Domme and you are a Dom. You haven’t even told me how you felt about the other night. And then there is the whole marriage and babies thing. Is that something you even want out of life? I feel like I still don’t know enough about you and we are such opposites, but at the same time, I’m not ready to go home to my lonely brownstone tonight, either.”

“Why would you go home tonight?”

“Because the holiday is over. That was the deal, wasn’t it?”

“That may have been the deal to start with, but I think that’s changed, don’t you?”

He was looking at me like I was crazy. Unless I missed some conversation between us, the agreement we made to pretend we were dating through the holiday was about to be over.

“What’s changed about it?”

“Trinity…” he started, then stopped and moved the food before he crawled into bed next to me. I let him pull my body over his. “Let me start by answering all your questions. We would live where ever we want. I’m not tied to any one place, especially if you aren’t there. New York City would be better than Whitewood because you are starting your business. I don’t know what’s going on with Nick, but if that’s his baby in Ansley’s belly, then there is no way he’s coming back to the city.”

“I heard she was his sub.”

“I did too, but I didn’t know she was pregnant and since he didn’t really say much today, there is still a lot to figure out there. The same will probably happen with Jack and Kyra. Now that he got her again, he will not let her go. So if they don’t come back, the penthouse could be ours, or your brownstone, or I’ll buy us something else. Either way, I don’t want to spend another night without you.”

I held my body still and held my breath, afraid he would stop talking. If what he was saying was true, then he was talking about a lot more than casually dating.

“As for your job and my role in the community, we can figure that out as we go. I loved every second of you dominating me. Would I like anyone else to do it? No. I only enjoyed it because it was you. What happens between the two of us could be more fluid than what we are used to in the community. We can play and experiment with things in the privacy of our own home and it wouldn’t interfere with your work. I don’t want anyone else. Only you. We are on opposite sides about a lot of things, but the most important things we are not. We both value family, hard work, and loyalty. I want marriage and kids and all of that someday, but again, only if it’s with you.”

“Kane, I—“

“Let me finish.”

I looked away, and he touched my chin, pulling my face back to him. “We haven’t known each other long. I have no idea what forever will look like, but I know one thing. I’ve never been around someone who makes me smile as much as you do. I’ve never felt as comfortable as I do with you, and never in my life have I considered forever with one person. If I told you everything I had in store for us, you would run on me, so I will leave you with this... Trinity Hill, I am falling madly in love with you and I can only hope someday you will feel the same way about me.”

The tears in my eyes were surprising. I wasn’t a crier by any means, but everything he said felt as if he had taken the words right out of my mouth. I was falling madly in love with him too and I didn’t want this to end, but I was still so scared.

“What happens if one day you wake up and you decide you don’t want me anymore?”

“That could never happen.”

“It could, Kane, you don’t know what the future brings.”

“You’re right, I don’t, and it will be hard as hell sometimes, but that doesn’t mean I’ll leave you. I know someone hurt you, Trin, and I’d do anything to go back in time and make all that pain and all those memories go away. But if I did, you wouldn’t be who you are today, and who you are today is the woman I’m falling in love with.”

I didn’t have any more words. Instead of saying anything, I laid my chest on to his and nestled my face into his neck, placing a kiss there as he wrapped his arms around me.

“You are by far the best Christmas present I’ve ever had.”

I pushed myself up just enough to look up at Kane. “Do you know what is scary?”

“What’s that?”

“If you hadn’t bulldozed your way into my life, we wouldn’t even be here right now.”

“But I did, and we are,” he said with one of those Kane Saint winks I had grown to love. I knew that look, but there was no way he was getting what he wanted from me without me fixing myself up a bit. I pushed up and jumped out of bed, too quick for him to catch me as he yelled out.

“Where do you think you’re going?”

“To lotion, brush my teeth, and fix my hair.”

I could hear him grumbling in the other room and just laughed to myself.

By the time I made it back to him he was lying in bed, naked as the day he was born stroking his huge ass dick.

“Can you come help me with this now? Breakfast is going to have to wait,” he asked with a look of desperation on his face.

I couldn’t help but laugh as I made my way back to him. “Yes, sir. I am here to help.”

His face lit up the second I called him sir. I just smiled, knowing exactly what I was doing. He had a point about our relationship. Maybe I could give a little, try things with him I hadn’t with others. We could build a trust between us that felt safe for me. Until then, if he liked me calling him sir before I let him fuck me, then I could do that. One step at a time.
