"Damon, no!"
Chapter 36
-Valeri-
My brother and Gabriel flew down the stairs, both of them just rolling over every step, while they tried choking the other. It was like they didn’t even notice the pain from falling down the stairs, so busy killing each other they were. After my brother pulled a gun out, the king tried calming him down, but there was nothing he could do, even though they were close friends.
Damon simply couldn’t accept that Gabriel was my mate, and he would rather kill Gabriel or die defending me than let Gabriel have me. It was insane, but that was my brother. He had always been there for me, and he would always try and protect me, even if I didn’t want him to. Gabriel hadn’t let a gun stop him though. He had easily punched it out of my brother’s hand and then the two of them had gone for each other’s throats.
“Damon! Please!” I shouted. “Gabriel, stop!”
I watched as Gabriel punched my brother and he fell backwards. Gabriel jumped towards him, as he was a little distracted, and the two of them tumbled outside since I had forgotten to close the door. We all followed them out there where it had started raining, and I watched as the two of them threw punch after punch at each other.
“Stop it, please!” I shouted.
I wanted to go out there, but Lara held me back.
“No, no!” she said. “No getting between two angry males like that.”
“But they are killing each other!” I said.
“Let them,” Ace just said.
I glared at Ace, who just shrugged.
“He is your friend!” I growled at him.
Ace didn’t say anything. He didn’t even seem to react to what I was saying. He just turned away and walked inside again. What the hell was the matter with him? I knew what, but still, I had thought he would want to help his friend.
“We have to do something!” I said and turned to Dominic and Lara. “Please!”
The two of them seemed unsure of what to do though because you could easily get caught in the crossfire.
“We need to let them handle it,” Dominic said.
“Why?!”
“Because this fight has been underway for years,” he said.
“What?”
“There has always been a lot of bad blood between them. You think this is just about you?” he asked me.
I looked at the fight, both of them bleeding heavily now, and not holding back at all. He was probably right. This wasn’t just about me, but I had certainly been the trigger.
“I can’t just watch this!” I said.
“You don’t have a choice,” Lara said.
“I love them both!” I said.
Lara seemed both a bit sad and happy, probably happy that I cared so deeply for Gabriel, but sad, she knew I couldn’t stop what was going to happen. Even if we stopped this fight, it wouldn’t solve anything. They would probably try and fight again at some other point. Gabriel would never let me go, and neither would Damon. This fight would happen no matter what and only one would come out victorious, but then what about me?
I would lose either a brother or a mate … I couldn’t survive losing either of them! I simply couldn’t accept that!
“I have to do something …”
“But what can you do?” Lara asked.
