“Probably not intentionally,” he said.
I shook my head a little and moved closer, so I was pretty much lying on top of him, and then I smiled a little at him.
“We make mistakes,” I said. “I can forgive mistakes.”
“What if it is a really big one?”
“Well, I guess it depends on if you did it on purpose just to be a jerk. I would have to know exactly what you had done before I can answer that question, but I think I can forgive most things,” I said. “It’s what partners do. They talk about it and they forgive each other.”
He smiled a little and ran his hand through my hair again.
“I think I have lost my friend,” he said.
“What? Dominic?”
“Ace,” he said.
“Oh …”
I knew what had happened between those two, and I could only imagine why things had turned rocky now.
“Because of me?” I asked.
He sighed and shook his head.
“No, because of me,” he said.
“What?”
“I never knew what he truly felt for me before last night,” he explained.
“You saw him?”
He nodded.
“Is he the one who gave you the black eye?”
“He knows how to punch,” Gabriel chuckled.
I smiled a little.
“I wish I had known … He thinks I am choosing you over him, and what he doesn’t see is that I want both of you.”
“Hopefully not at the same time,” I joked.
He chuckled a little and shook his head.
“He is my friend, but you’re my mate,” he told me. “I want it that way.”
I nodded a little.
“Then tell him.”
“I tried!” he said. “He doesn’t want to talk to me anymore. I can’t believe our friendship just stopped like that.”
“And now you’re afraid you will lose me too, right?”
He nodded.
