“What? Snuck into a woman’s home. I find that hard to believe,” she said.
“All right, I have snuck into others’ homes,” I told her.
“See?!”
“But I didn’t come here with the intent of sleeping with you,” I said.
She looked almost hurt by what I said, but she quickly masked it.
“Oh? Maybe it is my brother you are really seeking then.”
That made me laugh, and I started to shake my head.
“No, Valeri, definitely not your brother.”
“Then why did you come?” she asked.
“I came for you.”
“Yet, you don’t want to try and sleep with me. Not that I would say yes.”
“Are you offended by that? Should I treat you like the other women?”
“No!”
“Then why are you mad?” I asked.
“I’m not!”
She clearly was, but she couldn’t admit it. I was happy though to see that my mate did want me, she just didn’t want to be another night, another woman. She wanted to bethewoman, and it made me smile. She already was. She was the only one for me now.
“Jealous?”
“No!” she said harshly.
I smiled, and she found me annoying because she placed her hands on my chest and tried pushing me away.
“You need to go!”
“No,” I said.
“You do! If Damon sees you—”
“I told you, you are worth the risk.”
“Stop this now, Gabriel!” she said, not liking my games anymore.
She kept trying to push me, but I didn’t move an inch.
“I’m not playing, Valeri,” I said.
“Yes, you are! It’s what you do! And you like the games, but I don’t want to be played.”
“Fine,” I said, and grabbed her wrists, holding her close to me.
She looked where I held her, trying to pull away, but I wouldn’t let her go.
“You want the truth?”
