“I’m going to check on our girls then,” Kitty said.
“Rodeo, Soda, you’re with Kitty. Stay with the girls until we get in touch with you,” Boss ordered. The men rushed out the door, and Boss turned around and looked at the Morettis.
“We’ll go upstairs with you,” Vincente said as his brother Antonio stood behind him.
“We’re taking the stairs,” Luca said as he, Matteo, and Zach walked toward the door.
“I’m serious about what Frankie said. This wedding is happening. I promise your women are fine. You’ll see them all dressed up in less than an hour,” Matalie assured my brothers. She looked at the clock on the wall and winced. “We’ve got 25 minutes before we’re supposed to be downstairs. All of you need to get dressed, and we’ll see you then.”
“I want to see Frankie,” Santa growled.
“No! She made you spend last night alone so you didn’t see her the day of the wedding, and you’re not going to fuck that up by going up there now. There are traditions in place, Santa,” Matalie argued. “Please just get dressed, and I’ll go upstairs with the . . . non-MC family.”
“My Blue’s okay?”
Matalie laughed softly and assured him, “Blue is fine. So is Brea. Jenn and Bernadette saved our asses. Maylee’s got Boo now . . .”
“Oh shit,” Santa whispered.
“I’m pretty sure that Maylee and Bug are not going to make the ceremony,” Matalie said with a wince. “Boo’s not hurt, but it’s gonna take some time for Maylee to calm down.”
“What happened?”
“While we were distracted, a man came into the suite and took Boo from the bedroom and then held a gun on us. He threatened to hurt Boo but didn’t get a chance. I’m sure Maylee isn’t going to want her out of her sight for a while. Or ever.” Suddenly, the room was filled with different ringtones, and everyone jumped. “They must have figured out how those assholes jammed the cell phone signals. Make your calls quick and get dressed. I’ll go upstairs with these guys.”
“Are you sure you’re okay?” I asked Matalie. I reached up and rubbed my thumb over a spot of blood on her face. “Even covered in blood, you’re still beautiful.”
“Thanks,” Matalie said with a grin. “You think this is bad, you should see Frankie’s wedding gown.”
“Shit,” I whispered.
“I’m okay, Gus. I promise.”
“We’ll take care of her and the rest of the women ourselves,” Vincente assured me, talking a little louder than before so he could be heard over all the men who were now talking on their phones.
“Boss, she’s fine, but I think you might want to come talk to Jenn for a minute,” Matalie said as she touched my friend’s arm. “You should bring Stamp too. They might need a . . . moment.”
Boss stared at Matalie and then nodded before he said, “I’ll get him, and we’ll follow you up.”
“You get dressed. I’ll see you at the wedding.”
“Are you sure, babe?”
“I didn’t lift a finger today, so I’m fine. Believe me.” Matalie laughed uncomfortably and then said, “I mean, you learn something new every day right? I had no idea Jenn was into knife play.”
I barked out a laugh, and Matalie grinned at me. “We did have Brea tie the guy up, so all that kinky shit she and Chef are into has really come in handy.”
“Jesus. No wonder all of you get along so well with my sister,” Antonio said through his laughter. “Let’s go figure this shit out and get Frankie and Santa married so we can send you back to the relative safety of your lives in Texas.”
I gave Matalie a kiss before she turned to walk away with the men.
“Yeah,” Boss scoffed. “As if location affects their body count.”
Matalie shot Boss a toothy grin over her shoulder and replied, “Hey! A girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do.”
“I’ll watch out for her, man,” Stamp said as he walked past me. “Tell Santa we’ll be back as quickly as we can.”
“Will do.”
