“I’m going to torture you for so long that you won’t remember what it’s like to live without pain,” Maylee said calmly.

“You don’t even know who I am, bitch.”

“You’re the man who threatened my daughter. That’s all I need to know.”

I saw the door behind him fly open, and there was a split second of confusion as he started to turn around. Boo was yanked backward out of his arm just as he let out a roar of pain. Jenn’s head popped up over his shoulder as she planted a knife in the side of his neck causing his gun to thud to the carpet as he fell to his knees. Jenn pressed a pistol to the side of his head as she asked, “Is he alone in here?”

“Boo!” Maylee screamed as she ran past Jenn.

“Shoot him!” Brea yelled.

“No! Let him bleed!” Frankie shouted as she walked closer to him. He coughed and blood sprayed from his mouth, splattering the front of her dress. Frankie didn’t even notice as she stepped closer, maintaining eye contact with him the entire time. “Is this the part where you thought I would cry and beg, Don? Surprise. This is the part whereyoucry and beg.”

“We should save him,” Paula said calmly as she stood beside Frankie. “Give him to the boys and let them play with him for a while before they kill him.”

“Make an example out of him. Show him what happens to anyone who messes with our family,” Frankie suggested.

“If we’re going to keep him alive, we should probably drag the dead guy in from the hallway before someone sees him,” Jennifer suggested calmly. “I guess it doesn’t matter. Someone’s bound to see the blood.”

“Shit,” Paula hissed as she and Blue squeezed past Jenn to go outside. “Oh! It’s my dad. Look at that.”

“Oh fuck. I killed Paula’s dad?” Jenn whispered.

“She’s not gonna hold it against you,” Frankie assured her. “You can put the gun down, Jenn. He’s about to lose consciousness.”

“I vote we shoot him anyway,” I said as Pandora walked up beside me. I looked over and saw her eyes were wide with shock, but she nodded. “Pandora’s with me. Who else? Majority rules.”

“Twist the knife. See what that does,” Brea suggested.

“Do not kill him,” Maylee ordered from somewhere in the hallway. “Let him suffer.”

“Boo’s good?” Brea yelled.

“She’s okay,” Bernadette answered. “This guy isn’t dead.”

“Well, shit.” Paula sounded genuinely upset to hear he was alive. “I guess we’ll drag him inside. Someone needs to go get one of the guys.”

“I’m covered in blood,” Jenn said. “Oh, Frankie! Your dress!”

“Fuck the dress. Brea, tie him up. Pandora, come help me get out of this goddamn corset before I pass out. Matalie, are you clean? Can you go get the guys?”

“Why the fuck won’t my phone work?” I heard Blue yell from the hallway.

“One of them has to have a jammer,” Paula answered. “Grab his legs, and let’s get him inside.”

“Let me in first,” Maylee said as she pushed past Paula. “Boo’s covered in blood. I need to get her cleaned up. If Enzo sees her like this, he’ll set this whole town on fire.”

“I’m clean. I’ll go,” I said as I skirted past the girls and walked out into the hall, making sure to tiptoe around the blood. I stopped and looked down at the man on the floor and realized he was breathing shallowly. Blood was still trickling out of the wound on his stomach as well as the one on his neck.

“Frankie, wash your face. You’ve got blood on it,” I heard Pandora say.

“No. I don’t want to ruin my wedding hair.”

“We’re not having a fucking wedding today, Frankie,” Blue said as she picked up Paula’s dad’s foot and pulled. “Help me out here, Paula. He’s not exactly a lightweight.

“Wewillhave a wedding,” Frankie said firmly. “They came here today to stop it from happening, and anyone that’s working with them needs to see that they didn’t win. The wedding is on.”

“Well, shit,” Paula grumbled as she bent down and grabbed the other foot. “I really wanted to get all these fucking pins out of my hair.”
