“You look stunning, my love,” I said as Jenn stopped in front of me.
“You look so handsome,” Jenn whispered as she ran her hands over my lapels. She stared up into my eyes, and I saw all the love in her heart for a second before she grinned. “I might want you to dress like this all the time now.”
“Not likely,” I scoffed. I took her hand and then stepped back so I could study her from head to toe. Her hair was put up in an intricate style and her makeup made her look like a movie star. The dress she was wearing fit her like a second skin and showed me all the delectable curves I’d enjoyed for the last few years and planned to enjoy for the rest of my life. “Goddamn, baby, you look good enough to eat.”
“So do you.”
“What do you say we sneak away in a little bit and find a secluded corner so I can explore you with my hands instead of just my eyes?”
“I think that sounds like a great plan, but we promised Frankie we’d wait until after the dancing starts.”
“Are you wearing anything that’s gonna get in my way?” I asked, imagining what might be under that fancy gown.
Jenn stepped closer and discreetly slid her hand down to rub my cock. “I planned for this and wanted to make sure there wasnothingin the way of what we both want.”
“Oh, fuck me,” I groaned.
“And while we’re inside, schmoozing with all those strangers, I want you to think about what’s waiting for you under this gorgeous dress.”
“You’re an evil, evil woman.”
“And?”
“I love you all the more for it, and I’ll show you how much more shortly.”
“I can’t wait.”

“Do you feel like a bug under a microscope or is that just me?” Hammer asked from his chair beside mine.
“No, that’s exactly what I feel like.”
“Same,” Bug said from across the table. “But can you blame them? It’s not like we fit the mold.”
“Hell, I’ve spent plenty of time with Frankie’s family and Paula’s too. How the hell do they fit in here? I don’t get it,” I said as I looked at all the posh people mingling while we waited for dinner to be served. I glanced over to make sure August was okay and saw that she was still in the clutches of Frankie’s aunts and cousins right along with Sis. “Soda, are you dead, friend?”
“Don’t I wish,” Soda grumbled. “I feel like if I were on the television in some of these people’s houses, they’d try to adjust the color settings.”
The table erupted in laughter, and Soda shook his head with an embarrassed smile.
“You know, all these people dripping in diamonds and shit are probably up to their damn ears in debt. I bet their liquid assets don’t amount to much more than ours, and if you break down their debt to income ratio, they’re just as broke as everyone else.”
“Preacher’s got a good point. It takes a lot of money to maintain this lifestyle,” Captain agreed. “I’d rather drive my 10-year-old truck that’s paid off than have all the bells and whistles I’d have if I were trying to keep up with the neighbors.”
“Luckily,we’reyour neighbors,” I reminded him.
“I’ll give you a ten to take the entire tray of those little crispy things from the waiter next time he walks past us,” Hammer said as he watched some men standing near us each take a bite-sized hors d'oeuvre and nibble while they talked. “I’m fucking hungry and giving me food one bite at a time just makes me cranky.”
“I took one off a tray earlier that looked like a little piece of bread. I bit into the damn thing and it was filled with some sort of smelly cheese and fish,” Soda grumbled. With a forlorn look, he sighed and said, “I’d kill for some good barbecue right about now.”
“Me too,” Chef agreed. “Even better, give me a big ass steak, a baked potato with everything, and a basket of bread.”
“Frankie promised we’d get some food tonight. If she was referring to these little bullshit bites of unidentifiable shit, you better go ahead and run before you’re roped into this legally,” Soda warned Santa.
“And why the fuck can’t I just get a bottle of beer? Man, fuck this fancy shit,” Boss said with a glare aimed at Santa.
