I rushed to get dressed, still considering my growing feelings for this sweet accountant.
Women didn’t last long by my side.
If my being a brutal killer didn’t have them running and screaming, then I found that they couldn’t handle my extreme hours. Not to mention the fact that, most women never kept my interests longer than two days.
Dressed, I headed out of my bedroom and stopped by my top guard, Dog. “Keep an eye on her.”
“Mariah’s phone is still ringing a lot.”
“Who keeps calling?”
“Her father and some of the girls from the brothel, checking to see if she’s okay.”
“The girls can be ignored, but something will have to be done about her father.”
Dog nodded. “You want me to kill him?”
“No.” I shook my head. “I like her.”
Dog widened his eyes. “Excuse me, sir?”
“Send her father a text as if you were her, and just say. . .she needs time away.”
“Okay, but in one of the messages, her father mentioned some payment for a memory care facility. I believe it was $800.”
“Find the father’s name and location and then drop an envelope of cash inside his mailbox.”
“How much?”
Shrugging, I walked off. “I don’t know. At least 10k. Just get it done quickly.”
I spent the rest of the day, searching for Savio. It proved to be a waste of fucking time. I should have just stayed at home in bed, wrapped in Mariah’s welcoming energy.
Before heading home, I stopped at a spot and grabbed a new present for her.
She will love this.
When I pulled into my driveway, my phone rang.
I shut off the car, grabbed the wrapped present, and answered, “Yeah?”
Annoyance laced my father’s voice. “What is the problem with catching and killing Savio?”
I left my car. “He’s smarter than I thought.”
“He’s not smarter. You’re just more preoccupied than usual.”
I walked off. “What?”
“I was told you had a woman at your condo.”
“It’s just for fun.”
“You never have a woman stay overnight.”
“This one is different. She needed some. . .adjusting.”
“Get her out of there, so you can focus on Savio.”
