“Shit,” Fury growled, stepping forward.
“Don’t,” Scarlett barked, not even turning around. “They won’t kill him.”
Neither girl glanced away as they slashed their blades along his skin. Slicer tried to be silent, but the amount of cuts finally got to him and he started to scream. To try and twist away. Scarlett watched the girls, saw the demons in their eyes, the memories. She forced herself to stay still, to watch them, and watch the man that terrorized them both cry for mercy.
Scarlett stepped forward when they stood, breathing hard, blood dripping from their knives and their eyes wild. “Girls, that’s enough,” she said calmly. Neither girl looked at her, staring at Slicer, who was now hanging limply in his chains. She worried she would have to make Rogue stop one of them, while she did the other, but then they turned and looked at her. She nodded at them. “Good?” she asked them.
“Almost,” Wren said. Before she could realize what they were doing, both of them turned in sync and buried their knives deep into his sides, then stepped back as he screamed in agony.
“Now we’re good,” Win said calmly. She reached out for Wren’s hand, and the two of them wrapped their bloodied hands around each other and walked out. Wren limped, but neither of them looked at the men around them, other than Rogue. When they reached him, Rogue held their gaze as he gave them a nod of approval. Some tension left their shoulders as they continued to the stairs.
Once they were out of sight, Scarlett turned and moved to where Tanya hung. Tanya smirked at her. “You think you’re going to hurt me, bitch?” she sneered.
Scarlett didn’t answer. Instead she reared back and punched her in the face, breaking her nose in the process. She pulled her fist back, shaking it out. Moving fast, she pulled a knife from the table only a couple feet away and brought it back to the woman’s throat, even as the men cursed behind her. “Scarlett,” Rogue warned.
“You’re the reason my girls have nightmares,” Scarlett hissed at the wide-eyed Tanya. “All because you want to be an evil bitch. I should kill you now.” She punctuated her words by digging the knife deeper into her neck so blood pooled around the blade’s edge and trickled down her pale skin.
“Scarlett, don’t,” Rogue said again, his voice firm as he moved behind her. “This is not going to happen.”
“Shut up, Rogue,” Scarlett said coldly. Rogue growled behind her in response but she ignored him. “You are going to burn in hell,” she hissed at Tanya. “I hope you suffer every day for the rest of eternity. That some demon makes you his bitch, makes you suffer every horror imaginable. So much so that you’ll pray for death all over again. And maybe one day, I’ll see you again. To watch and laugh. To see your death happen over and over. Only then will I be satisfied that you’ve suffered enough.” Then with a quick slash of her wrist, she cut her throat.
“Fuck,” Rogue cursed, pulling her back and into him, wrenching the knife away from her and letting it clatter to the floor.
Scarlett stood there and watched as the blood drained out of her, and the life in her eyes slowly dimmed. “See you in hell, bitch,” Scarlett told her sweetly. Then she turned, pulled out of Rogue’s arms and looked up at him. His eyes were stormy, and he looked like he couldn’t decide whether he wanted to beat her ass or hold her close. “That one,” she said calmly with a nod at Slicer, “is all yours.” Then she moved around him, through the crowd of shocked bikers and headed out of the basement.
At the base of the steps stood a nodding Karissa. “Good for you, girl,” Karissa said quietly, turning with her and leading her up the stairs. “The girls are in Rogue’s room, so we’ll get you in another one to wash up before they see you.”
Scarlett nodded, a buzzing filling her ears. She had just killed someone, and she didn’t care. No, she did, but not because she was guilty. She was almost elated at knowing that the woman who had organized so many abductions and sales was dead. She hadn’t gotten to really unleash her anger on Slicer, but the girls had, and that was more important.
Now she just had to hope Rogue wouldn’t hate her for what she did.
CHAPTERFORTY-TWO
ROGUE
He sat in Church, needing a few more minutes before he could go up and face the girls. And Scarlett. He should be pissed that Scarlett killed Tanya. Not only because they could have gotten more information out of her, but also because he didn’t want that for her. Didn’t want her to go to sleep at night and see it replay over and over again in her mind. Still, the way she handled herself, he was so damn proud of her.
Scarlett wasn’t the kind of woman to cower, and she had proven that. She had also made sure that the girls were out of the room when it happened. He was happy for that, only to save them from more nightmares that were bound to come out of all this.
“Alright,” Savage said tiredly, drawing his attention. “We’ve got some things to get settled, and then I’m going home to my woman and kids.”
“Prospects are getting rid of the bodies,” Fury said calmly.
“Where was the other prospect?” Steel asked, looking at Savage with an arched brow. “The one that was supposed to be with Razor.”
“Ran off, from what I saw in the cameras,” Code answered grimly. “First sign of trouble, he took off his cut and ran.”
“Fucker,” Steel growled. “Want me to take care of him?” he asked Savage.
Savage’s mouth thinned. “Pay him a visit, remind him of how much of a coward he is, and then let it go. We don’t need pussies like him around anyway.”
“Damn, the way we’re going through prospects, we’re going to run out,” Jax muttered.
“More will come around,” Savage predicted. “Now that these assholes are dealt with, what’s the status of the hotel?” He looked over at Fury in question.
“Sent in a tip to the feds,” Fury answered. “Before we had to run, I unchained the women in that suite, though. Wiped off anything we touched and we got out of there. The Feds are on their way, and the cops have the place surrounded. Not sure how many people they found, but enough that the town is already buzzing about it.”
“I’ve been listening to chatter,” Code added. “Last count was thirty women, and possibly up to fifteen underaged girls. No men. It was almost like they were running a damn brothel out of there.”
