“Not before Karissa kills him,” Wren snickered.

Razor gave her a dry look, but didn’t reply. Scarlett knew that Karissa was a sore spot for him.

“I’d worry more about Rogue,” Scarlett said lightly. “He’s not keen on sharing.”

Razor smirked. “Tell me something I don’t know,” he chuckled. “I’ve seen Rogue lose his shit before and I don’t need that directed my way.”

“I could see that,” Wren agreed with a smirk. “Not that I have to worry about that with him.”

“Just threaten him with a spell from your cauldron and you should be able to keep him in line,” Razor joked.

Wren and Win both rolled their eyes while Scarlett chuckled.

For the next hour, Scarlett and the girls worked at getting the library ready to open, with Razor following along dutifully, checking every window and every stack of books. The girls gave Scarlett another set of eye rolls, but kept on working. Thankfully they were following the rules and not giving Razor a hard time.

Though, she doubted that would be the case if Rogue was here. They would enjoy torturing him.

As she worked, she thought back to her conversation with Rogue last night. He thought he was a monster, and that didn’t sit well with her. Though hadn’t she wondered about him when he had first started hanging around? Stalking her? Not to the extent that he was a monster, but that he wasn’t a good man to be around? How wrong she was.

Instead, he was proving to be a man she could count on, that the girls could count on. Her heart was invested, and she was starting to suspect that she was in love with him. She shouldn’t be, not this early in the relationship, but the heart knew what it wanted, and it was telling her it wanted Rogue. She would have to make him realize he wasn’t a monster. That he was a good man, even if he was dark and hard around the edges.

“You’re good for him,” Razor suddenly said, quietly. She pulled herself from her thoughts and looked at him in surprise. “You’re good for Rogue. He’s always been hard, dangerous even. A lot of the brothers will give him a wide berth, especially if he’s pissed. He’s always been a bit of a live wire too, but you seem to mellow him out. You and the girls.”

“Hopefully he feels the same after all this is over,” she said lightly.

Razor snorted. “That man is crazy about you, so I don’t think you need to worry about that.”

“He’s crazy alright,” Wren said with a snicker behind them.

“But he’s our kind of crazy, so it makes it more fun,” Win added with a grin when Scarlett and Razor looked at her.

Scarlett rolled her eyes. “No one is your kind of crazy,” she teased. “Lord help everyone when you two go off to college.”

“Speaking of which, we need to start deciding where we want to go,” Wren said thoughtfully. “I mean, as much as I’d love to live at home and spend my college years torturing Rogue, I want to explore my options.”

It was Razor’s turn to snicker. “He’ll end up paying for you to go to college on the other side of the country,” he predicted.

Wren smirked. “Maybe I’ll mention that possibility to him tonight,” she mused.

Scarlett chuckled. “Rogue won’t need to pay for your college anyway. I’ve been setting money aside and by the time you go off to college, I’ll have enough for both of you, no problem. You might have to get part-time jobs for an apartment and such, but we’ll figure it out.”

“In that case, I’m going to start applying to Harvard and MIT,” Win joked.

“You’re both smart enough,” Scarlett said with a smile. “And if you do want to go there, you know I’ll make it happen. Now, let’s get going because we’re opening in five minutes.”

“I’m going to check in with the prospect,” Razor announced as he followed them down to the main floor. He stepped away, putting the phone to his ear.

“You two stay behind the desk and I’ll unlock the doors,” she said as she made her way to the door. She was careful to stay in Razor’s line of sight the entire time. When she reached the door, she saw someone was already waiting in the parking lot, and frowned. Normally, no one showed up until at least lunch time. She unlocked the door and headed back to the desk where the girls waited.

“Fuck,” Razor hissed, scowling. “I can’t get a hold of the prospect. If he’s fucking off, I’m going to kick his ass.”

“Maybe he’s walking around or has his volume down,” Scarlett suggested easily.

“He knows the rules,” Razor muttered.

The door opened, and they all looked up. Scarlett gave a small chuckle when she saw Karissa strolling in. Razor cursed. “Nice way to greet your girlfriend,” Wren teased.

“I’m not his girlfriend,” Karissa said briskly as she leaned against the desk, completely ignoring Razor.
