“Someone will need to be with Scarlett when she goes to work,” Rogue said firmly. “She can’t take time off because everyone else is out, so whoever is with her will need to stick like glue.”
“It should be a brother and not a prospect,” Fury suggested. “Kids are fine with the small shit, but I wouldn’t be trusting them to watch the entire place.”
“I’m going to go as much as possible, but there could be times I’m needed at the shop and can’t,” Rogue added.
“What about the girls?” Steel asked.
“I think they were in some sort of camp or something,” Rogue answered with a shrug. “They won’t be going back. They’ll have to stay here. I’ll find shit for them to do.”
A couple of brothers snorted. “Good luck with that one, brother,” Ink snickered. “Teenage girls? No way. Had to deal with three sisters growing up, and I don’t need that headache again.”
“They seem like smart kids,” Fury smiled. “I’m sure they can help out with something. Hell, I’ll pay them to watch Gabe if I have to.”
“Don’t tell Gabe that,” Savage chuckled. “He’ll be insulted.”
“Kid has a crush on one of them, so he’ll probably thank you,” Rogue smirked.
“Either way, we need to keep them here until we know the threat is gone,” Savage agreed. He looked at Code. “Any luck on ID’ing them?”
“I got an ID on this Slicer guy,” Code answered, tapping a few buttons and putting the mugshot and rap sheet of the man in question on the projector screen behind Savage. They all took him in, and Rogue fought back his anger at the man who had dared to touch his girls. “This guy, Oslo Lam, is what I like to call a boy scout of the pen. He’s spent most of his adult life in and out of prison, and has a reputation on the inside as someone you don’t want to mess with. Most of his crimes involve women and assault, plus a few robberies when he was in his early twenties.”
“Done multiple stints for rape,” Fury remarked in disgust. “Someone needs to put him down, permanently.”
“He will be,” Rogue vowed quietly.
“Either way, this guy is neck deep and someone keeps getting him out on bail, or getting the charges dropped. When he is locked up, it’s not for long, because someone is obviously pulling the strings,” Code added.
“Which means that someone powerful is involved,” Fury summarized.
“What about the other guy? What did the girls call him? Knock? Baton?” Razor muttered.
“Club,” Rogue said absently.
“Yeah, that’s it,” Razor nodded. “What about him?”
“I’m still working on him and the woman. Hopefully I’ll get a hit soon so we know who we’re going after. The problem with the footage is him and the woman aren’t really facing the camera so I can’t see their features clearly enough to run facial recognition.”
“What about cameras outside the mall?” Savage asked. “Anything on those?”
“I saw them get into a large SUV, but still nothing clear. They knew there were cameras, and they were careful to keep their faces turned away.”
“The girls still recognized him,” Rogue pointed out. “So he’s somewhere, and he’s probably got a rap sheet just as long.”
“I might be able to do a search on part of his face and maybe the girls could help me narrow it down,” Code suggested carefully. “I don’t want to upset them, and I don’t think they’re mistaken, but to get his real name I’ll need a clearer picture. Even if they know if he has any markings or tattoos. Prisons keep records of those so we can try and match him that way.”
Rogue wanted to reject that idea immediately but forced himself to think rationally. He wanted to protect Scarlett and the twins as much as he could, but he couldn’t discount the fact that they were the ones who would be able to help them the most. “I’ll have to ask them and Scarlett. She’s not going to okay it if the girls get upset.”
“They strike me as solid kids,” Ice commented. “I don’t know who’s who, but they’re not weak or letting this define them. Hell, they were joking about you while dealing with this, and they didn’t break down into tears. They were smart. So I think they’ll be happy to help, as long as they know they’re safe and we’re not going to push them into something they’re not ready for.”
“They are strong,” Rogue agreed. “More than likely they’ll want to help.”
“Then we’ll hold that option in reserve if needed,” Savage agreed. “Let them settle in today before we try that route. For now, everyone keep an eye out, and no one goes out alone. Rogue, you sending prospects to get whatever things they need?”
“Girls don’t want them going through their things,” Rogue answered. “I’ll take a cage and grab their shit. Prospects can get anything else they need, including hauling a new bed over to the apartment, otherwise they’re sharing a bed.”
“I’ll go with you,” Fury offered. Rogue nodded his thanks.
“Good. I’ll get them working on the bed situation as soon as we’re done,” Savage agreed. “And I’ll come too. Better to have a couple sets of eyes just in case.”
