“Nah, we’re good with him here,” Wren said with a smile. “I mean, as long as you two don’t forget that we’re right across the hall and all that.”
“Or get us those headphones,” Win added with a grin.
Scarlett huffed out a breath, fighting back a blush. Why was she embarrassed? The girls knew what sex was, and that she and Rogue being in a relationship meant that was a part of it. “I don’t want it to be uncomfortable for you,” she tried to explain.
Wren and Win rolled their eyes. “We’re fine, Scarlett. Promise,” Win said firmly. “Our therapist brought up the possibility of you having a relationship with someone a long time ago, and that anything sexual could be a trigger. So Wren and I talked it out and we’re good. If we’re not comfortable with something, we’ll let you know. Promise.”
Scarlett looked at Wren, who nodded. “Sex is a part of life, and part of a healthy relationship. Or at least, that’s what the therapist was always saying. She said that it might help us realize that sex can be a good thing with the right partner. I’m not ready for that, and might never be, but as long as Rogue treats you right and you keep the screaming to a minimum when we’re around, we should be good. Oh, and make sure we don’t see his naked ass again. That was a trauma all on its own,” she joked with a mock shudder.
Scarlett laughed and shook her head. “Alright, well, I’m glad you both feel that way, but if that changes, you know you can tell me. Rogue is a good man, but he won’t come before you two.”
Both girls smiled. “Alright, so what are we going to eat?” Win asked, changing the subject.
“We need some groceries because there is nothing but canned stuff in here right now,” Scarlett said with a sigh. “I’m making a list, and maybe we can see if Rogue can get someone to bring us a pizza or something.”
Both girls nodded and they got to work on making a list.
A knock on the door stopped them and they glanced at each other. Scarlett headed for the door, wary, but smiled when she realized it was Esme on the other side. “I heard we’re going to be neighbors,” Esme said with a grin. “And I figured you were probably hungry, so I wanted to invite you over to the house. Karissa, Royal, and Harlow are all over there too.”
Scarlett looked over her shoulder at the twins, who were grinning. “I think that sounds like a good idea,” she finally answered. “We were just making a list of things we need.”
“Bring it with you and we’ll see if we can help with that,” Esme invited, winking. “I’m sure we can find a few things that will have those boys chasing their own tails.”
Scarlett shot Rogue a text to let him know where they were going, and they followed Esme out and down the steps.
CHAPTERTWENTY-SIX
ROGUE
His fists clenched on top of the table as they watched the video again. The very idea that these scumbags were so close to the girls made his blood boil. He wanted to put them down like the filthy vermin they were, and then take the whole operation apart piece by piece. It wasn’t possible to stop something like this completely, but as long as the threat to his girls and their town was eliminated, that was all that mattered to him.
“It’s definitely a team,” Ice commented calmly when the video finished. “There is no way anyone else could pull that kind of organization off so well.”
“They knew there were cameras, which is why the men didn’t care if they were seen, but they probably didn’t want the woman seen,” Fury remarked, leaning forward in his seat and bracing his arms on the top of the table. “That’s their ace in the hole. If cops or anyone else were looking into them, they would be looking for men, not women.”
“She’s probably the one that lures them out,” Razor agreed darkly. “How many teenage girls or young kids would expect a woman to harm them? Men, damn right, most of them will turn and run the other way.”
“Fuckers,” Jax hissed. “Makes me wonder just how many teams are lurking around here.”
“My thoughts exactly,” Savage said grimly. “Brothers, we’re not about to let this stand. I want them found, and I want them brought here, because it’s time we send a message. This shit isn’t touching our town, and it isn’t touching our women or children.”
A chorus of agreement went up, and Rogue nodded. “As much as I hate to admit it, Scarlett and the twins knowing what they look like gives us an edge,” Ice said, shooting Rogue an apologetic look. “Otherwise, we wouldn’t have any idea, and they could be snatching people from town without anyone realizing it until it was too late.”
“How were they when you left them at the apartment?” Savaged asked Rogue.
“The girls won’t admit they’re shaken up, but it’s coming,” he predicted. “Scarlett is definitely upset, but she was starting to calm down a bit before I left. Having something to do, like getting things set up at the apartment will help. But I fully expect that come tonight or tomorrow, it’s going to hit them.”
“You think Esme would be willing to go with Royal and Harlow to talk to them?” Savage asked Fury.
“Already done,” Rogue answered. “Scarlett texted just as we came in that Esme invited them over to Fury’s place to meet with them and help them get things organized.”
“Lord help us all,” Ink groaned. He looked at Fury. “You locked up the ammunition, right?”
Fury chuckled. “They’ll be fine. Besides, I have two prospects watching the place until we’re finished. They’ll let us know if they cause any trouble.”
Savage and Steel shared a doubtful look but neither corrected him. Rogue wasn’t sure how he felt about it, but at the same time, he was grateful to the other women for including Scarlett and the girls so easily. He’d deal with the fallout from whatever crazy shit they got up to later.
“I think we need to make sure that the women and kids leaving the compound have someone with them,” Savage announced, redirecting the conversation. “These bastards know we’re involved now, and that means that any of them are in danger of being snatched.”
