“Mia…” Lauren shifted restlessly beneath her, and Mia was glad she wasn’t the only one having trouble going slow.

“She didn’t scratch you, did she?”
“I don’t think so.”
Mia ran a hand through Lauren’s hair. “Next time, we’ll close the door.”
Lauren grinned. “She must have wondered what we were doing in here.”
“Well, I haven’t been with anyone since I adopted her, so who knows what she thought.”
“Ithought it was amazing,” Lauren said, suddenly serious. “Like really, really amazing.”
“So did I.” Mia brought her lips to Lauren’s. “And I’m not finished with you yet.”

Lauren driftedto sleep that night with Mia’s arm resting over her stomach, warm and secure. When she woke the following morning, their positions were reversed. Mia slept with her back against Lauren’s stomach, spooned against her with Lauren’s arm wrapped snugly around her waist.
Lauren lay like that for a few minutes, watching Mia sleep until she stirred in Lauren’s arms, rolling to face her. A smile touched Mia’s lips before she’d even opened her eyes, and Lauren felt herself smiling right back.
