"About you marking me. I mean are we not just inviting people to come here with pitchforks?" she asked me, making me chuckle a little.
"I thought we had already discussed that," I said, and let my hand run one last time down her hair before I pulled it away.
"Doesn't mean we can't be worried about it."
"I have chosen you, little wolf. With my mark on your shoulder, I thought there was no more doubt."
"No more doubt," she assured me. "Just thinking."
"You're doubting."
"Thinking," she gave back.
I chuckled a little. I could understand if she liked to prepare for the future. Why wouldn't she, when no one else but her had looked after her?
"We will deal with the council when the time comes," I said. "First we begin your training."
"My what?" she asked.
"You're queen now."
"I don't see a crown," she teased.
I laughed a little.
"You want one?"
She shook her head.
"Nah, too heavy," she chuckled, before turning serious. "What exactly does a queen do?"
"Lots of things. I will show you tomorrow. Let us not focus on that now," I said, as I took the empty plate from her hands, and then slowly leaned over her, making her lean back and fall down on the couch. "Let us focus on something completely else."
Her breathing turned quicker, and her arms wrapped around my neck, pulling me down for a heated and powerful kiss, that made me damn dizzy. Fuck, this little wolf had a power over me no one else had.
Chapter 42
-Lara-
"Ah, this is ridiculous!" I said and threw the little folder down on Dominic's table.
He just looked over the top of his computer, arching an eyebrow.
"What is?" he asked.
"All of this! Look at it!" I said and gestured to all the paperwork around us, which was filled with different requests and things we had to sign. I got none of it, and I found it all very old school. Like we had gone back a few hundred years, where the king had to accept everything that the commoners requested.
Dominic just leaned back in his chair, smiling a little, as he watched me get frustrated over all the new work, I had in front of me. As queen, my signature now was as meaningful as his, which meant I could sign on all sorts of things as well. I wasn't quite officially queen yet. Apparently, there was a ceremony for that, and that was what Dominic was working on at the moment. Preparing that ceremony. He wanted it over with as fast as possible before the council got a chance to ruin anything. They weren't very happy though. They had already expressed that the last three days that I had been working with Dominic here in his office. He didn't care though, and right now there wasn't anything the council could do. Dominic technically had the last word. He was king, after all, despite not really wanting to be.
"I can see it is starting to get to you a little, huh?"
"A little?!" I asked, annoyed. "I don't get a word of it."
That made him laugh and then he pushed his chair back.
"Come here."
I sighed and got up from my chair, before going over to him. He pulled me down on his lap and instantly I felt a lot calmer. It was crazy the effect he had on me, but there was no denying we were mates. No one had ever been able to do this to me.
