"I know nothing."

He suddenly stood taller, as if he thought since he wasn't the one who abducted Lara, then I wouldn't punch him, but he wasn't safe from me. Until I had my mate back, no one was really safe.

"We need to think," Aaron said, and started to pace back and forth.

It was silent for a little while, as we all thought it over. Renly was watching Aaron though, and suddenly the older vampire broke the silence:

"Is she really your daughter?"

Aaron stopped and looked at Renly. He lifted his head high and nodded. Even if it wasn't confirmed, we were pretty sure that Aaron was Lara's father. It would make a lot of sense.

"She is."

"Which means she is a perfect candidate to be my queen," I pointed out, just so Renly wouldn't get any good ideas for the future.

Renly turned to me, our eyes locking for just a moment before he looked away. He sighed deeply, and I noticed a change in him.

"Do you really not know anything?" I asked him.

It took a few seconds before he looked at me, but then he turned his head, and I saw something that almost resembled guilt in his eyes.

"I ..."

"What?!" I asked.

"Arianna hasn't been home for a few days. She says she is with a friend."

"And have you had this confirmed?" I asked.

"Arianna can go visit her friends," he just said.

"Not with a control freak dad, she can't."

It was silent again, and I could already see the answer in his eyes.

"You don't know where she is, do you?" I asked.

He sighed again, lowering his head, and then shaking it.

"I ... I have tried telling her this is not the way."

"What way?" I asked.

"Arianna ..." he took a deep breath and then looked at me. "Arianna has her own ways to deal with things that ... stand in her way."

"What the fuck is that supposed to mean?" I asked.

"It means she doesn't like people standing in her way."

I glanced at Ace, who almost looked worried before I turned to Renly again.

"Are you saying what I think you're saying?" I asked.

He didn't confirm this.

"And you have just been ... what? Covering it up?" I asked.

He didn't answer me again.
