"It's not going to be easy being your queen, is it?" she asked me a bit teasingly.
I shook my head.
"No."
"But it will all be worth it."
My heart only warmed from her words, and I smiled, leaning in to kiss her. It would definitely all be worth it.
Chapter 49
-Lara-
Dominic had gone out today. Apparently, someone needed to meet with him, and Ace had gone with him. So today, it was again just Gabriel and me. We were playing a game of pool, Gabriel sadly destroying me, and I groaned, as one of the colored balls missed the hole I had hoped it would fall into.
"Well, that was pathetic," Gabriel said.
I walked over to him and pushed him with my shoulder.
"Hey! Okay, so I am not on top of my game today. No need to rub it in!" I said, making him chuckle, as he leaned over the table.
I started to nudge him and tried to distract him.
"You can't hit it. You can't hit it!" I kept chanting.
"You know you are an annoying little half-blood," Gabriel said, before bumping me with his shoulder, but he was much stronger than me and he knew that, so I tripped to the side, just barely catching my balance before I watched Gabriel send one of the balls into a hole in the corner.
"Unfair," I mumbled.
He just smiled at me, flashing that stupid grin, before he completely destroyed me. He was leaning over the table on the other side, getting ready to send the eight ball into a hole where I stood. He winked at me, as we locked eyes, and then he sent it rolling, but I couldn't stop myself and blocked the hole with my hand. The ball hit it, rolling a little backwards, and Gabriel slowly stood up, our eyes locking.
"That's cheating, little queeny," he said.
I just shrugged.
"I'm the queen," I said.
"Abusing your power already! Wow!" he teased.
I just chuckled, before I continued the game as if nothing had happened. Gabriel allowed it since he was destroying me anyway, and I was far behind him.
"You know you aren't quite queen yet."
"Yes, yes," I said. "Ceremony and all of that. We talked about it a few days ago after the party."
He shook his head, as I missed once again.
"Dammit ..."
"I'm talking about the fact you haven't marked him, and I know you half-bloods are different and there is really no telling how much wolf you are, but I know you can mark him," he said.
I just walked around the table, taking my glass filled with a little Scotch and taking a sip. Gabriel hadn't continued the game but was just watching me.
"Well?" he finally asked.
I shrugged again.
"What do you want me to say?" I asked.
