Yeah, I was fucking pissed. I told him not to do anything, but of course, why would the hybrid king listen to anyone? I just wanted to get far away from him, but that was a bit hard when I was trapped on an almost ten-hour flight with him back to Seattle, where he lived. Dominic was sitting in front of me, looking very pleased with himself, while I just did my best to ignore him. The other two, Ace and Gabriel were sitting on our left side, not saying much either.

"He deserved it," Dominic finally said.

"But I told you not to," I said while looking out of the window.

"Why?"

"Because I just want to forget all about him, that's why," I said and looked at him.

He sighed and shook his head slightly.

"No one treats you like that."

"It's not your problem to deal with!" I told him.

He leaned forward, placing his hands on the table between us, and his dark eyes got so very serious.

"You're my mate, therefore your problems are my problems," he said.

"It was just an excuse for you to show your power!"

He sighed and looked at me almost disappointed that I would say something like this, but it was true! He saw a chance to show who was in charge and he took it. He could just have let it go, but no, of course, the king of vampires and wolves, couldn't do something like that.

"I told you to let it go," I said.

"Don't tell me a little part of you didn't want me to do it," he said.

"I didn't want you to do it," I said calmly, as I looked at him.

That made him smile a little, which only annoyed me, and I turned to the window again.

"He is already drowning in debt. He has no one. He is just a sad excuse for a man. Why kick a man who is already lying down?" I asked.

"He is drowning in debt?" he asked me.

I glanced over at the king but didn't say anything. I didn't mean to let that slip. He was not supposed to know anything about me really, but things so easily came out in the open, when you were angry or frustrated, which I was at the moment. I had truly hoped my stepdad wasn't home, but I wanted to make sure, so after I had found the bag, that I had already packed before I left for the party, I went to go check if he was in his room, and that was when I found him. I had hoped I could slip out without being heard, but the floorboard had creaked, and he was awake in a second.

"Forget it," I said.

"Is that why you stole all those things?" Dominic asked me. "To pay it off?"

"I told you to forget it," I said and looked at him.

He smiled a little and shook his head. He looked so like a king at this moment. So superior and like he wouldn't take a no for an answer. He thought, I would just tell him everything, but I was not going to. I kept my cards close. I always had.

"Where is your mother?" he asked.

Okay, so he was switching technics, now going for something even more precious to me. I wouldn't let him get to me. He knew things slipped out of me when my feelings took over. It was not hard to see. So, I did my best to get a grip before saying:

"Dead."

My voice was cold and had no hint of emotion, and I hoped that would scare him off, but it didn't look like it.

"I'm sorry."

"Me too," I said and looked away.

"She never told you anything about your real father?"
