“We heard from the lawyer this morning,” Owen said. “The defamation case against the Tribbertons is moving along. We’re set to go before a judge next week. I’ll need both of you there. The lawyer will be contacting you later today.”
“Sure,” he said quickly.
“Oh, that reminds me.” Jules walked over and sat down, still holding James. “Lisa showed up last night at dinner. She was a guest of Byron Gibbons.”
“What?” He frowned. “Why didn’t you tell me last night?” he asked, and then he remembered how dinner and what came after went.
Jules’s eyebrows shot up and he knew she was thinking the same thing.
“What happened?” he asked quickly.
“She pretty much threatened me.” She shifted the baby in her arms. “And gave me these marks before Brett kicked her out.”
Owen walked over and carefully took James from her arms so they could all see red marks on her arms clearly from fingernails.
“We need to call the police,” Damion started.
“No, I’m fine,” Jules said with a shake of her head. “The woman is crazy. Let’s let the case move forward.”
“Still, it does need to be noted.” Owen handed James to Hannah, then walked over and snapped a few pictures of the marks with his phone. “Sending these to the lawyer. I’m sure there is footage of the incident. Why didn’t Brett tell us?”
“I’m sure he didn’t want to disturb you. He told me he’d file a report and already took pictures of my arm last night. I was thankful I was behind the bar so she couldn’t do too much damage to me.”
“What did she say?” Hannah asked, shifting the baby in her arms.
“She warned me to drop the games. I think she attacked me because everyone else was here. I was the only one working last night that she knew.”
“I’m going to have Brett send out a bulletin to all the employees to keep their eyes out for them and make sure neither of them is allowed on the grounds again,” Owen said as he dialed his phone.
“Next time you see her, let me know,” Damion said, helping Jules stand.
“We should let the family rest.” Jules motioned as James started fussing.
“It’s his lunchtime.” Hannah smiled. “I’m a mom,” she added with a giggle.
“Congratulations,” Jules and he said at the same time.
After leaving the new family to rest, he drove them to one of their favorite beachfront restaurants. They were an hour early for lunch, which thankfully allowed them to beat most of the tourists.
They were seated at an outside table under large awnings. Jules ordered a fruity alcoholic drink and he stuck with an iced tea.
Jules took a picture of them holding up their drinks in front of the white sand and the teal waters and posted it.
“We’re not official until we link ourselves in our accounts,” he said, pulling out his phone. “There,” he said after a switching his social media to show that he was in a relationship with Jules.
Jules laughed and did the same. “Making it official.” She held up her glass.
He tapped his tea to her drink.
They had just gotten their appetizers when a crazed-looking Lisa came barging through the patio doors of the restaurant. Damion saw her first since Jules’s back was to the door.
The woman glanced around and, upon spotting him, marched towards them.
Her normally sleek hair and clothing were in disarray. Her mass of wild curls flowed in the light breeze that was coming off the water, making her appear even crazier.
“You!” she screamed. “You ruined everything.”
Damion stood, but it wasn’t him she was talking to. It was Jules. Jules jerked around to see who was yelling at her.
