I took the risk of assuming she was well enough to go to out since she was roaming the mansion. Later that evening, I took her to dinner at one of her favorite restaurants in the city. Having felt bad about not spending much time with her, I made sure my security knew I would not be taking any calls, business or personal, until we were back home. Jane deserved my undivided attention.

After a romantic dinner, we went for a stroll in the park. Wrapping my arm around her, I pulled her against me tightly. Her phone vibrated in her bag nonstop, however she ignored the calls. I knew she had friends, but I still could not help but wonder who was that persistent.

“Dinner was amazing.” A wide grin covered her face.

“It just happened to be one of my favorite places as well.”

I tugged her into my body, enveloping her in my arms, leaning closer to her face. My own phone vibrated between our bodies. Rolling my eyes, I tilted closer. She placed her hands on my chest.

“It’s okay.” I muttered. “I'll let it go to voice mail.”

She shook her head. “It's okay really.”

Annoyed, I exhaled, sliding it from my inside jacket pocket.

Yes, Emir? I did not want to take calls tonight.

Hey boss.

What’s going on? I'm on a date with Jane.

Jane shifted her weight, rubbing her arm then averting her gaze.

I know. I just…I'm going to the meeting later tonight, Emir demanded.

Absolutely not. I protested.You haven't recovered enough.

I'm going crazy. I want to get back to work, and it's just a meeting.

He was right.Fine. But you're not to get involved if anything happens.

Thank you! And I promise.

Irritated, I shook my head, hanging up and placing my phone back in my pocket.

“I’m guessing Emir is wanting to work again?” Folding her arms, she giggled.

I nodded. “I’m getting way too protective over that kid.”

“He’ll be okay.” Hooking her arm in mine, she stroked the outside of my formal jacket.

“You seem like such a positive person.” I chuckled. “Why?”

She shrugged as we began to stroll slowly again. “I wasn't always this way.”

“What changed you?”

“Honestly?”

I nodded.

“Working for you.”

Halting, I turned to her, arching a brow. “I’m confused. I’m a dick.”

“Well, you toughened me up.” She snorted. “Working for you has not been easy.”

I scoffed.
