“That's good though, right?”

I nodded. “Yes, I just hate everyone is in this situation.”I never let them meet women.

“Listen,” she sighed, “this may not be the ideal situation but it's so beautiful here. I think…”

It was impossible not to focus on her mouth as she continued to speak. I lifted my hand to my chin, mouth watering to taste her. The urge to kiss her was too great.

“Giovanni?”

“I did it again didn't I?” I smirked, zoning in on her lips once again.

She giggled, nodding.

Unable to control myself any longer, I lunged forward, ignoring my gut feeling. Grabbing her arms, I yanked her to my face. My hands slid up to her shoulders, my tongue probed hers. She flinched for a moment until I grabbed the back of her neck, gripping tightly. She moaned, melting into my embrace. I tried to separate work and personal, but I failed at that moment. Peeling myself away, I rested my forehead against hers.

“I couldn’t hold back any longer.”

“I don’t want you to stop.”

Crashing my lips into hers again, I backed her into the wall, pinning her wrists above her head with one hand, cupping her jaw with the other. My lips trailed to her nape. “I don't want to be apart from you tonight.”

“Do you want to sleep in here?” She could barely speak.

“My room.”

Picking her up, I threw her over my shoulder, carrying her through the hallways, watching closely for any sign of others. The moment I entered my bedroom, I closed the door, quietly as possible.

Dropping her on the bed, I inched between her legs, above her vulnerable body. I was starving, and I wanted to devour her. Unfortunately, something was preventing me from fully giving in. It had never happened this way before tonight. Normally, there was no hesitation when it came to me getting between a woman’s thighs. I was utterly perplexed by my decision to stop.

I rolled onto my side, staring at the ceiling, running my fingers through my hair. Why couldn’t I fuck her?Damnit! Why was it the time to have morals? I liked Jane, but I did not want to jump ahead too fast, for an unknown reason.

“You okay?” She threw her leg over me, twirling her fingernails in my tousled hair.

I did not reply. The truth was, I knew who she was a long time ago. Calling her the wrong name for so long was how I coped with keeping it professional, though now I was questioning my methods and calling someone the wrong name is a dick move.

When I first saw her, it was inside the courthouse.

I was standing with my family, and Emilio’s lawyers outside the courtroom in the hallway, chatting. After glancing at my watch, I announced that I had to return to the office. I had a meeting to attend and was already running late.

Jane was at the courthouse at the time as well, not paying attention while hurrying down the corridor. As I rounded the corner, she slammed hard against me, almost causing my security to tackle her, until they realized it was an accident.

“Umph!” She adjusted her black-framed glasses. “Oh God!” She jumped back. “I’m so sorry, I’m late for an appointment.”

“It’s okay.” I smoothed my suit then adjusted my tie. “Are you okay?”

“I’m running late, and I wasn’t paying attention.”

“It’s okay.” I chuckled.

She was so distracted, she did not seem to remember meeting me, but I remembered her. It was the very next day when she interviewed for the job as my assistant. I was surprised to see her.

There was knock as she poked her head in the door at the same time. “Mr. Rovati?”

My eyes widened, shocked security had let her through. “Yes?”

“I’m Jane, your ten-o’clock interview.” She sheepishly smiled. “Someone told me to come on in.”

“That’s fine.”
