Natalia crumpled on my body, crashing her lips into mine. I did not reciprocate as I never liked to cuddle or kiss after. They meant nothing more to me than what they were good for.
My phone vibrated against my thigh.
“Oh, I feel that on my leg.” She giggled.
I dug my phone from the depths of my pocket. “It’s my assistant.”
Natalia rolled off me, draping her leg over my hips while tracing the two gun tattoos on my chest with her fingernails.
Jane. Hello.
Mr. Rovati, I’m sorry to bother you at this hour but there is something only you can answer.
I exhaled a deep breath.I'm kind of in the middle of some…business. It better be important.
It is. She sighed audibly. At least I hope it is. It seems it is.
Just tell me.
Okay, so I’ve been working on the deadlines. I came across an unknown client account from Serbia.
My blood ran cold that instant. I almost dropped the phone. Natalia laid her hand flat on my six pack the moment I tensed. I plucked her off me and slid to the edge of the bed, propping my elbows on my knees, burying my head in my palm.
Mr. Rovati? Are you there?
I’m here.
What would you like me to do?
I'll be over in a minute.
Um. Her breath hitched.Do you know—
Without letting her finish, I hung up the phone, squeezing it. My knuckles turned white. “I need you to go.”
“What’s going on?” Natalia slid to my side then stood. Resting her hands on my shoulders, she scratched her fingernails in a gentle, soothing oval. “Is everything okay, Gio?”
“Nat, you need to go immediately. I have to leave.”
While she was getting dressed, I went to shower as quickly as I could. I could not waste any time. When I stepped into the bedroom in a towel, she was gone. I dropped the cloth, slipping on a pair of boxer briefs.
KNOCK! KNOCK!
“Come in!”
Jackson poked his head in the room as I was pulling on a pair of black track pants and a black V-neck T-shirt. I then grabbed a jacket off the back of a nearby chair.
“I saw Miss Natalia out. She is a very nice girl.”
“Thank you.”
Ignoring his other statement, I patted my pockets before snatching my keys and wallet off the dresser and grabbing my phone off the bedside table. I texted Trigger to meet me downstairs. Jackson followed me down the hallway to the main staircase. He took the steps slower than me.
“Will you be requiring anything else from me tonight, sir?”
“No. I have to go out for a while. I’m not sure when I’ll be home.”
“Very well.”
