I turned around, sitting on the steps with her in my lap, facing away. Lifting her arms behind her, she stroked the back of my neck with her nails, panting. “Why, oh why can’t I keep you, my love?”

I hooked a finger around her loose hair, moving it to the side, then pressed my lips next to her ear. “Me or my dick?”

She twisted sideways, smiling, keeping her arms around my neck. I placed a peck on her lips, leaning my head against hers. We sighed at the same time.

“Both.” She playfully pouted. “Kidding, I miss you more and more every time we part ways.”

“Your company wants me dead and my big bad boss would never trust you in a million years, baby.”

“He’s your brother.”

“And he’s crazier than me.”

“Impossible.” She snorted.

I smirked, biting her nape. “Maybe so.”

That morning, I woke up beside my boss. MY BOSS! Well, not my real boss. Still, it was way further than I thought I would ever get with him. This might work out after all. I wasin! It was now time to enjoy myself.

He was on the outside balcony, talking on the phone. I went downstairs to get some coffee, hoping I would not see his ridiculous brats. Gross, kids. When I came back up to the room, I poked my head out the sliding glass door, getting hit with a blast of crisp, freezing air.

He smiled the moment his eyes met mine.Don’t do anything stupid. He hung up.

“Huh?”

He held his phone up. “I was on the phone with my brother, but I’m done now.”

“Oh.” I took a sip of my coffee.

He nodded to the cup. “I see you made it to the kitchen.”

“I didn’t think you’d mind.” I grinned.

“Not at all. “How did you sleep?”

The smirk that twisted on the corner of his lips would have made any girl’s panties drop instantly. It was such a shame he was the target. If I had met him in any other circumstance— I could not think about that right now.

“Really well. Your bed is so comfortable.”

He only bowed his head. I had to admit, his entire physique was that of a mythical god. His dark hair, caramel brown eyes, and golden-brown skin combined with his tattoos, made any woman vulnerable. I refused to let him manipulate me. There were times it was extremely hard.

“How didyousleep?” I reciprocated the question.

He peered off in the distance for a moment. “I stayed awake for a while thinking then passed out.”

“Thinking about what?” Tilting my head, I fluttered my eyelashes, playfully flirting.

He chuckled. “This.”

Before I knew what hit me, he closed the gap between us, pressing his lips to mine. Why did he have to be so sexy and a damn good kisser? I could barely stand. He made me defenseless when he touched me. At least I would enjoy myself in the process of getting paid. Placing my hands on his chiseled chest, I pressed back.

“How will this impact us working together?” I took a sip of my drink.

“Let's not think about that right now.” He sighed, running his fingers through his hair. Suddenly, his entire demeanor changed. “How would you feel about going skiing with the kids?”

“Uh,” I choked on the mouthful of my coffee. “Just the kids?”

He laughed. “Well, I mean, I’ll be there too.”
