His eyes widened. “I disabled it before the bar.”

I shook my head. “Well at some point it definitely turned on, and so did Lily.” I chuckled. “We heard how much fun you were having. Way to keep it professional.”

Without waiting for a reaction, I pivoted around, leaving him to stew in his embarrassment.

The lobby of Lily’s office was immaculate and spacious. Enormous windows granted an abundance of organic lighting, giving the white, beige, and gold modern décor a relaxing atmosphere. A round, white marble reception desk sat in front of a beige accent wall. A sign displayingLillian Jadehung above, illuminated by cyan-colored LEDs.

Yes sir, I'll let her know. Thank you. The receptionist was on her phone as I approached confidently.Bye bye.

“Hello, may I help you?” She batted her eyelashes, adjusting her posture.

“Hi, I'm here to see Lily.”

“Do you have an appointment?” She glanced down at a book, confused. “What’s your name?”

I shook my head. “No, but she is expecting me, and Carmine Giamagi.”

Glancing up, she smiled. “One moment, sir.”

She pressed a button on the phone, speaking into her headset. I leaned forward, propping my elbow on the high surface of the desk.

You have a visitor.

Yes ma’am. Carmine Giamagi.

Sure, I’ll let him know.

“Last door on the left, down the hall.” She flashed a bright smile.

“Thank you, um…”

“Crystal.”

“Thanks Crystal.” I tapped a finger on the desk.

Sauntering down the hallway, I followed Crystal’s directions. I came to a stop, hearing chatter coming from the room. I poked my head in, tapping my knuckle on the doorframe.

“Hi, Carmine!” She waved me in the room. “Come in.”

A very attractive man attired as if he had just stepped off the pages of a magazine, stood way too close to her. They shared a laugh as they flipped through a binder. He leaned his arm against hers.

“Is this a bad time?”

I knew she was going to be busy since it was her first day back in the office, but I did not know she would be surrounded by men. It was the fashion world. Why did I think the men she worked with would be bridge trolls?

She giggled. “No, come here. Carmine, this is my assistant, Liam. Liam, this is my…uh, friend Carmine.”

“Hi, man.” Liam shook my hand. “Nice to meet you.”

“Hmmm.” I hummed, arching a brow. “I’m sure.”

Lily rolled her eyes, closing the book, laying in on a table across the room.

“Anyway, we'll have fun.” Liam beamed.

Fists perched on her hips, she nodded. “I'm excited. We'll talk more about it tomorrow.”

Liam flashed me a smile, waving as he glided out the door, closing it behind him.
