My legs began to tremble as my nails dug into his arms, Daegon smirking as he pushed his cock as deep as possible. He roared out, my body vibrating from the sound as it always did when he released his roar, his cock twitching and his body trembling as he released himself.

My cunt was filled with his seed, his brow forming small sweat beads as I could feel his heart pounding in his chest. “Forgive me, my sweet. Hearing your cries of pleasure were too much.”

“There is no need for forgiveness, my love.” Daegon gently removed his now soft cock and rested his forehead against my bosom. I loved how he would sigh as I ran my hands through his long hair, the moment so perfect that I never wanted it to end.

“When will you know if you are carrying our child?”

“Not for a while, my love. You must be patient.” Daegon scoffed as I ran my hands over his broad shoulders. “Do you wish for a son or a daughter?”

“I wish for a strong child. If we have a son, I will raise him to be a great leader and warrior; if we have a daughter, I will also raise her to lead our people and be masterful with the sword. I fear that carrying our child will be too much for your body, Aylin. Forgive me, I cannot stop worrying about you.”

“If I must rest while I carry our child, then that is what I will do, my love. I promise you will not lose our unborn child or me.”

DAEGON

“Are you adjusting well here, Halla?” I asked as I watched her hammer the sword against the anvil. Her skill was unmatched; even my father had been incredibly impressed by her talent and speed. She could make an entire sword and helmet faster than any blacksmith before her. It had been a privilege to watch.

“I am. Your people welcomed me with open arms, Sir Daegon, and your mother has been the biggest help. You are fortunate. I forgot what It meant to be around those who truly loved and cared for you. Thank you, Daegon, for allowing me to live among you.” Her gaze left mine as I noticed the sadness on her expression.

“Your eyes are sad, Halla. What troubles you?” I watched her sigh, toss her tools on the table, and rest her hands on her hips, a tension forming in the air as she ensured there were no prying eyes or ears.

“I am worried about Soryn. He barely speaks, retreats outside the village at night, and refuses to stay among us. He assures me that his rage is under control and the beast is dormant, but I can see it in his eyes, Daegon. The beast wants out.” This was the last thing I wanted to hear, my mind already racing as I knew Aylin was visiting our healer to see if she was carrying our child. If Soryn kept to himself, I did not worry about him, but Halla had grown fond of him and their friendship.

“Where is Soryn now?”

“Sleeping, I assume. I make him work at night, so the maidens leave him be. Every unmated female of this village has whispered of Soryn, but he is obeying your words and staying away.”

“Good. A beast like him needs no mate.”

“A beast? Is that all you see is a beast? Do you not see a man in pain, wanting more than anything to be forgiven for his past?” My lips barely parted to answer before Aylin burst through the tanned leather that covered the opening, tears streaming down her face.

“My love?” My voice was shaky as I took her hands in mine, her entire body trembling as I feared her words.

“The curse is over. I am carrying our child.”

DAERLA’S UNFORTUNATE FATE

AYLIN

Daegon rubbed my back as I vomited again, my head spinning and my stomach in knots. The healer and Daegon assured me this sickness was expected, but I still hated feeling so sick. I took the illness as a blessing; my womb had been empty for so long, and now I was growing our child.

I was not far along, but I knew I was carrying a daughter in my heart. Daegon said it was foolish to assume such things, but I knew it was a girl. My mother always told me stories that when she was carrying me, she knew that I was a girl, even when others told her otherwise. Daerla said that I should trust my feelings and not make others doubt what I already knew.

"What can I do, my love?"

Daegon had been attentive to my needs even more than he had been. He could not hide the worries that filled his mind. He stayed by my side as much as he could, ensuring I was never lifting a finger for anything.

"Carry the child for me?" Daegon chuckled as his large hand continued to rub my back, my legs feeling weak as I felt his arm gently slip around my waist and hold me up. I knew that carrying a child would be difficult, yet I was still shocked by how sick I felt.

"If my body would allow me, my love, I would gladly carry this child." My body felt weak as I slowly tried to stand, Daegon wasting no time in scooping me into his arms. I rested my head on his chest as he carried me back inside our home and laid me gently on the bed, the warmth feeling amazing against my skin. The snow was falling daily with no end, and Daegon worried that the food stores would grow too small before spring.

"Just rest, my love. I need to see the elders but if you need anything, my mother will be along shortly to look after you." He placed a small kiss on my cheek before rushing out to attend to the low-food stores. Daegon told me not to worry, but from the whispers around the village, the hunting grounds were scarce and drying up. He was worried but dared not share his trouble with me since he feared it would be far too stressful.

With each passing week, my belly would grow, Daegon fearing that my life would be forfeit once I gave birth. I would try desperately to assure his fears that I would not perish, but it was to no avail. If he could not be with me, his mother was by my side, a woman I loved as if she were my mother.

Tears filled my eyes as memories of my mother and how I wished she could see my belly grow with my unborn child. She always spoke of how she loved carrying me in her belly and how I was born on a stormy day. My mother told me of the pain of giving birth, so deep that she was sure my father would hear her cries. I was so consumed with my tears that it frightened me when Daerla entered my home, her hand gently touching my shoulder as I screamed in fright.

She screamed as I did, our terror turning to laughter and then worry as she started coughing violently. Daerla had been sick for some time but hid it from her mate and son since they would only worry and drive her mad. I wanted to tell Daegon of his mother's illness, but I promised her I would keep it secret. She was a proud woman, and many times, I tried to tell Daegon of her illness, but she begged me to keep it secret.
