“Do you want it harder, my love? Slower? Tell me what you want, and I will give it to you.”

“Fill me with your seed Daegon,” I whispered as his movements increased, his forehead resting on mine as I felt him spill inside me, his seed hot as my cunt felt full. “I thought you said we would wait until we returned home.”

“I lied.”

Waking the following day, I was greeted with light powdery snow falling from the sky, my body shivering as I wrapped my cloak tight around my shoulders. “The snow is early,” I said through chattering teeth as Daegon moved from the fire and pulled me into his warm embrace.

“Halla said this means the winter will be long and harsh like many years before. It will leave little time for hunting; Our food stores will have to be rationed.”

“Do your warriors fear the cold, Sir Daegon?” Halla teased as he motioned her away with his hand, his arms wrapping tighter around me as I could feel his heart beating calmly in his broad chest.

“I am anxious to return to the village, my love. I can smell your sweet arousal once more.” He whispered as my face went hot with memories of us.

“How will we sneak away? Our people will want to know of our journey, and the celebration of Halla will go well into the night.”

“They will simply have to wait or have Halla tell one of her famous stories.” I laughed at his eagerness, but I knew we would find a moment to sneak away. I was more than ready to leave my old life behind entirely, my heart still aching for my mother, but I knew her suffering was over. It broke my heart when she revealed to me her toxic bond with my father, a bond that was now broken.

I knew that my bond with Daegon was pure and one of absolute love, but I also knew that under the most terrible of circumstances, our bond could sour and grow poisonous. I hoped that that would never happen in my heart, but the fear was always with me. I never wanted my bond with Daegon to grow bitter and hateful like that of my mothers, but I knew that many moons ago, my mother and father loved each other.

“Where are you, my love? Have your thoughts run away from you again?” Daegon asked as he helped me onto my horse. My thoughts were broken as I smiled weakly at him. I knew if I told him my fears, he would understand but speaking about them reminded me that those terrible unions existed.

“Just anxious to get back to the village.” Daegon knew I was not telling the whole truth, but he did not pry, for he knew I would come to him when I was ready. “Where is Halla?” I asked as the snow began to fall faster and heavier.

“She went ahead. She said that something is in the air, something that is bothering her.”

“She left behind everything she knew and had to join our village; I am sure this is scary for her. Halla is strong. She will adjust and love our people.” I said as he gently tapped my hand with his, my arousal growing as the throbbing between my legs became almost unbearable. I yelped as Daegon lifted me quickly off my horse and gently placed me in front of him.

A soft moan escaped my lips as his large hands began to massage my breasts, his warm lips living soft kisses along my neck. “Your lust is overwhelming.”

“I do not care if the snow is falling all around us—I need to bury my cock inside you.” He growled as he slipped off the back of the horse, his hands held out as I felt a blush over my cheek. Before my feet touched the ground, he lifted me into his arms; our lips gently collided as the heat from our bodies melted the snow on our exposed skin.

Daegon slowly set me down, my legs shaking as I watched him take off his cloak and gently place it on the ground, my hands shaking as I removed my cloak. “I will keep you warm.” He whispered as he pulled me into his lap, his arms enveloping me as his warmth overtook me. A shiver ran up my spine as he kissed me tenderly, his loose hair falling around us like a blanket.

“Daegon! Did you hear that?” I gasped as a loud thunderous roar sounded from the woods behind us. Daegon pulled his cloak over me and stood up, his eyes glowing and his teeth bared as his hand clutched the dagger at his side. My body shook as the roar sounded again, this time closer, my entire body trembling as I stood and wrapped the cloak around my shoulders. Halla galloped her horse over to us, her face stern as she held her mace tight in her hand, mace so beautiful it seemed selfish to wield it.

“Can you use this?” Halla yelled as she jumped from her horse and tossed me a small sword. The weight felt heavy in my hands as I felt my heart begin to race. Daegon moved in front of us, my entire body shaking as I held the sword. Daegon looked at me proudly as I took the warrior stance that Ravette had taught me, a smirk over my lips as I gave him a tiny wink.

“The Man-wolf from the forest is stalking us—he has been on us since we left.”

“And you thought not to inform me? My mate is in danger!” Daegon screamed as I felt more fearful at the mention of a beast of legend. It annoyed me that Daegon still thought of me as frail, but I knew that one day there would come a time I would need to show him I could protect him and myself.

“The less you know, the better, Sir Daegon. If I had told you of his presence, you would try to kill him.” I could see her words angered Daegon as he bared his teeth at her, Halla ignoring him as her gaze turned back towards the forest. I held the sword tight in my hands as I bent my knees, the small training I had received playing in my memory.

“Stay behind me, Aylin.” He said as he gripped his dagger tightly, my heart racing as a chill ran down my spine when I saw a pair of glowing golden yellow eyes. I wanted to scream as the beast burst forth from the trees, his size more than I could comprehend, and his growl caused my mate to shake in his stance. This was no mere beast; this was a true monster. With his snarling fangs and haunting eyes, it truly was menacing.

This was no mere wolf; this was a beast of legend. A beast that would haunt my nightmares for many years. Everything seemed to stop as Halla began screaming at Daegon not to hurt it, Daegon growling and baring his teeth as he stepped closer, my hands gripping my sword as I was ready to defend the life of my mate.

“STOP!” I shouted as I noticed the beast beginning to transform, his snout disappearing and his fur seeming to fall from him onto the ground. In the blink of an eye, he was no longer a great wolf but a large man covered in deep scars. His hair was long and white and fell over his naked body like a blanket, and his yellow eyes were now a deep green.

His body was covered in sweat as he panted heavily, his gaze fatigued as If he seemed lost as to where he was. A small smile rose over my lips as I saw the look in Halla’s eyes. She had been right all along.

Halla hissed as Daegon tried to stop her from approaching him, her eyes filled with anger as he threw his arms up in defeat and returned to my side.

“She knows what she is doing, my love; no need to treat her like a frail lamb.”

“STAY AWAY!” The man shouted, his voice deep and raspy as he coughed heavily. Halla did not heed his warning as she removed her cloak and placed it over his enormous shoulders, the fabric barely covering him. “Did I hurt any of you?” He asked in a shaky tone as we slowly approached him, his gaze no longer filled with rage but rather fear and guilt. “At times, I can control it, but the beast overtook me tonight.”

“What is your name, beast?” Daegon hissed as Halla glared at him, my hand patting his arm as I moved around him, his brow furrowing as I pushed his arm away when he tried to pull me close. This was no beast; it was a man who had been cursed as one. I loved Daegon with all my heart and soul, but he was sometimes far too harsh on others.
