Those huge black wings spread open and began to slowly flap back and forth, filling the air with noise.

Inch by inch, he rose from the ground and inhaled the air again. “Lilith will be intrigued by this news.”

My nerves flared.

Lucifer rose higher and then disappeared.

A New Plan

Fatou

I woke up naked and sprawled on top of Azar.

Sweet memories flooded my head, filled with the smell of sex and the sounds of his grunts and the sight of his hair-covered chest. My muscles ached from yesterday's sexual workout. Every inch of my skin tingled from the memories.

I yawned, slowly getting a clearer vision of my surroundings.

How long have I been out of it?

My body had molded to his, and his chest had been a perfect pillow.

The sun warmed my skin, and the breeze offered a gentle caress. Leaves and branches surrounded me, scratching, tickling and digging into my arms and thighs.

Where are we?

I blinked my eyes.

A bird flew by my head and chirped.

That was close.

Another bird on the branch near my foot answered the other’s call.

Hold on. Are we in a tree?

I slowly looked down.

A high-pitched scream left me.

We were on top of a high tree. It must have been over thirty feet in the air. Thousands and thousands of other trees surrounded us.

Azar jolted awake and tightened his grip on my waist. His muscles flexed under me as a breeze blew through his hair. “What’s wrong?”

A shiver ran through me.

He gazed up and then down, confusion glazed over his eyes. “Why did you scream?”

“We’re in a tree.” I quickly wrapped my sore legs around his waist and held on to his shoulders. I held on, afraid that I would drop to the ground if I let go. “I can’t fly like you. How long have we been sleeping here?”

He flashed a smile, displaying perfect white teeth, and leaned back on a huge branch.

A tiny squeak came from it. I tensed my shoulders in fear, wondering if the branch could hold us anymore. Squeaking had to be a bad sign.

Are the branches sturdy enough to climb down?

“You are a fairy.” He smirked. “One would think you would love to sleep in a tree.”
