I smiled. “Are you scared to be having sex with something that is evil?”
Her fangs left. “I’ve already been with a vampire.”
My smile shifted to a frown. “I am more than a vampire.”
“That’s what I’m trying to understand.”
“Well. . .” I sat up and leaned her way. Only a few inches ran between my nose and hers. “Understand that if you become terrified from my answers and you end up having regrets about sleeping with me. . .”
She widened her eyes.
“I will not be letting you go.”
“That sounds like a threat.” She flashed her fangs at me.
“You are mine now.”
“Azar, that’s not how—”
“Mine.”
“My focus is to get my daughter. After that, then we shall see.”
“Mine.”
She frowned. “What happened with Lilith and Lucifer?”
“God created Angels before he made anything else. He made several females and males. Those Angels had children.” I lifted my hand and touched her dreadlocks. They were damp and soft on my fingers. “Lucifer and Lilith were the first twins in the universe. It had never happened before. Once they came, God allowed humans to have twins too.”
“I never knew Lucifer and Lilith were brother and sister.”
“They grew up together and everything seemed normal in God’s divine Paradise.”
“Why did God make Angels?”
“In the beginning, they were like. . .his personal assistants and project managers. Some helped create things on earth. Others managed the creations—the humans and other living beings.”
She blinked. “So. . .are fairies made by now?”
“No.” I shook my head. “Angels, demons, and humans are older.”
“How could that be?”
I snapped my fingers.
Two Angels hovered in the garden, right above our bed.
Fatou tensed next to me.
Surely, the Angels were shocking.
They perched like birds on a wire. Their ivory feathered wings were spread out and sparkled in the sunlight. Their golden skin shimmered. The female had long silver hair that fell past her waist. The male’s hair was long too, but the strands stopped at his shoulders.
Their matching white togas were tied at the waist with gold ribbons and fluttered down to their ankles.
The smell of roses and patchouli blossomed on the wind, heavy and sweet.
Fatou gasped. “This is Lilith and Lucifer?”
